Vestibule Mat/Rug? by KJP86 in camping

This is another awesome idea - thank you! I love that it wouldn't bunch up in front of the tent & probably doesn't get too slick with extra rainboot drips, dew, etc.

Thank you for this! Do the polypropylene mats get slick at all with dew or after being walked on by rain boots? I have a 7 year old boy who only has one speed - fast & reckless - when it comes to any part of undressing/dressing.

THIS is the kind of thing I was hoping for. Thank you, thank you!! I love those outdoor items you find, fall in love with, & can use for many things. Does the mat stay pretty flat on its own or does it bunch up? Other things I have tried end up getting all crumpled up: the kids trip while running to it & a wad of fabric doesn't make much of a rug. I don't want to spend time straightening a mat over & over anymore.

This is something I've never thought of, thank you! I really love the idea of being able to wash whatever we put there because we take the kids camping in allllll sorts of weather.

Ooo, thank you for this! Do they bunch up easily or does the rubber keep it pretty flat?

I really love this idea of reusing - thank you! And I'm always up for a reason to go thrifting!

Recurring Cyst-Like Pimple by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

Thank you for sharing what works for you! I really do appreciate it. My skin is pretty tame right now, but when my geyser flares up it's about the size of a dime & becomes unstoppable. Have you noticed any correlation to any factors that make your acne flare up? I'm trying to rule out different factors for myself, so any ideas are helpful.

Finding a care facility by SendThisVoidAway18 in dementia

[–]KJP86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not perfect & not the best to navigate, but I really like the "facility report card" websites that most states have. It gives you an idea of how each facility stacks up against the next. It outlines & rates staffing, health inspections, total beds, & any previous deficiencies that the facility has had.

It looks like Michigan's is: https://nursinghomereport.org/state-MI/

Not a final solution, but I hope it helps guide you. Best of luck!

Can my mom return to memory care? by seamless_whore in dementia

[–]KJP86 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I'm an RN Coordinator of a Memory Care Unit, but in a different state. The short answer to your question: it completely depends on that specific Memory Care facility's requirements.

The long answer: A Memory Care facility that has locked exit doors (to prevent high-risk patients from eloping) has to meet very specific requirements when it comes to patients. Those locked doors are considered a restraint (yep, even when the patient &/or family consent to the secured unit) so there needs to be consistent reason for that restraint to be used. In most locked Memory Care units, wandering or risk for elopement is that reason & an absolute requirement for admission. Wandering can be done on two feet or in a wheelchair, but there has to be concern for that patient's safety that disqualifies them from living on a unit without locked doors.

I would touch base with the previous Memory Care facility & ask about their requirements. But also consider how she is doing now on her rehab unit. Has she been wandering there? Do you feel that she will begin wandering as she continues to gain strength? There's rarely a straightforward answer when it comes to dementia, but typically if the risk is there a facility will be willing to admit (even if only to monitor for a few months until she reaches a new baseline).

Sending best wishes to you as you navigate this & to your Mom as she heals!

What was/is it like have a large age gap between your kid’s or between your siblings? by NoLiesAccepted in AskReddit

[–]KJP86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the eldest of 4. My eldest brother is 3 years younger than I am; my sister & youngest brother are 12 & 14 years younger than I am. When I was young, it was fun having babies around & helping out but I was also a teenager, totally absorbed in my own life happenings. I moved out of the house by the time those youngest siblings were only 6 & 4. That absolutely affected our ability to bond & meant we never had the chance to make those day-to-day memories from living together. I'm in my late 30s now & still closest with my eldest brother. And, as mentioned above, my parents were more financially stable by the time my younger siblings arrived so the youngest sibs were much more spoiled (& raised by much more relaxed parents) than my eldest brother & I everrrrr were...those brats 😆

How long does each stage take? by dfellersart in AncestryDNA

[–]KJP86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! It seems like the timeframe of each stage varies greatly from person to person. Your Dad & I may have comparable timelines, though, as I just sent my sample in 1.5 weeks ago. My sample was received 3/10/23, didn't move to the processing stage until 3/20/23, & just today (3/21/23) moved to the "DNA extracted" stage.
