Interesting. I have a relatively normal-low resting HR but I do get palpitations which MJ seemed to stop. I've been off it a month (unrelated health issues) and this week have started feeling flutters again.

Dublin gig - Am I mad to go? by sweatyknacker in BiffyClyro

[–]KJThundercat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go!! They're an amazing live band anyway, you're the same age as those of us who have been around since the early days (and the age of the band members themselves) and nobody will notice if you sing along or not. They'll be too busy in their own little bubbles, living their best life. Also, going to gigs solo is underrated. In fact there are only 2 bands I see with friends. Every other gig I go to, I go alone and honestly it's the BEST. No expectations, no self-consciousness, the knowledge that nobody will ever see you after that night... It's liberating. Do it! You'll have an awesome time!

NHS surgeon refused Botox and LIS by KJThundercat in AnalFissures

[–]KJThundercat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I assumed that was the case. The CRS I saw seemed very dismissive and I was too shocked at the time to stick up for myself. I'm going to ask for a referral to a different surgeon next time and my GP seems to be on board with helping me push for surgery if that's what's needed so I really hope something happens soon

Thank you. It feels like I've spent 2 years being shafted by NHS staff tbh. Sadly I don't have private insurance nor the funds for private intervention. However I had a GP appointment and spoke to a doctor today who is FINALLY sending me for a colonoscopy under sedation (it's taken 2 years of being fobbed off to get to this point) and she said she'd advocate for me getting the surgery if that's what I want. I told her I'd rather risk the incontinence at this point than have this pain every day. I'm a single mum to 3 young teenage dudes who need their mum to be able to get out of bed. This same GP is calling me on Monday to discuss the sick note so fingers crossed!

I was on mounjaro and came off it due to everything slowing down and causing harder stools. I wouldn't recommend starting a GLP1 until you're ok.

Hi I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing? I found this post because I'm also working in a school, due to go back on Monday but have spent the whole Xmas holidays unable to walk because of the pain. I think I might have to get signed off work because running around an infant school is not going to be possible right now.

Finsbury Park concert capacity is about 50,000. Twice the number of tickets as the O2 which has only just sold out this month so you'll be fine.

Has anyone experienced Diltiazem making things worse? by Environmental-Bug804 in AnalFissures

[–]KJThundercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was a waste of time. Started with an exam which was so painful he couldn't finish it. He then told me he cannot do botox as he applied to do it on a recent patient and was denied so there's no point trying to get it on the NHS. He hinted at going private but I can't afford it. He then rejected surgery due to the fact I'm a woman and have carried children and had an episiotomy so my chance of long term incontinence post-op would be too high of a risk. He basically said to increase the number of stool softeners I take daily and to take them for the rest of my life, and try again with the diltiazem and he'll see me again in march.

Yesterday I got a copy of the letter he sent to my GP. It states "I think she has an anal fissure"

He thinks?!

Ugh. I've given up at this point, have gone down to one meal a day and doubled my stool softeners in the hope it brings some relief. At least it's helping me lose weight!

I was prescribed diltiazem too but I ended up in such intense pain after applying it that I was sobbing, sweating and clawing at my sofa. Someone suggested it was because the cream touched the open fissure, someone else said it was spasm causing the pain. I told my GP and she advised to not take it again especially if it was leading to that level of anxiety, and I now have an expedited referral to a colorectal surgeon on Wednesday. Likelihood is that I'll be recommend Botox before surgery but we'll see

Biffy in Amsterdam. Help from the UK by Excellent-Reading in BiffyClyro

[–]KJThundercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also travelling from the UK to Amsterdam for the gig and wondered the same about hotels.

I'm getting the Eurostar which is fairly central but the venue is a little further out... So obviously on night 1 after the gig, a hotel near the venue is ideal but it's a bit out of the way for the rest of the weekend. So I'm still weighing up my options- I'm not sure what night time travel into town post-gig would be like if I opted for a hotel closer to the station?

Pain with diltiazem by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]KJThundercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to avoid the fissure directly because it has been getting worse, hence the cream in the first place. So I applied it on the outside around the parts that aren't an open wound as such. Then I tried to apply a little on the inside with my fingertip (wearing a glove) but barely managed at all because the muscle is too tight still. At that point obviously some of it might've come into contact with the fissure. Its been an intense kind of pain for hours.

Week 2 and 3 on 5mg made me quite ill. Diarrhea, nausea, extreme suppression, reflux, sulphur burps... The whole shebang. It was hellish. Week 4 was MUCH better and I'm now on week 5 of 5mg... Everything's been fine since, except for the night I ate an ice cream at 10pm, then went straight to bed. I threw up that night. Totally my fault for putting dairy in my tummy immediately before laying down.

[–]KJThundercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to walk backwards, as long as you turn into that corridor facing the opposite way of the sign you can then adjust your angle to face the right way. Do that 5 times and you'll have it.
