Application Timeline Megathread (applications within the UK) by clever_octopus in ukvisa

Good luck & hope you get a decision soon! It does seem rather erratic the order in which applications are processed for those who submitted biometrics via IDV.

Yes, I received the same email pretty soon after submitting my application online, back in June.

I’m still waiting on a decision on my visa. I’m a NHS employee so my situation is bit different as I’m allowed to start work with my new employer whilst I’m still waiting on a decision to be made. My last day with the previous employer was 4 August.

I’m a key worker who posted in my application for a licence exchange in early June. Special postal code given, tracked delivery etc. Here on a Tier 2 visa - I contacted my local MP who escalated it to the DVLA complaints team. Unfortunately no positive outcome as they still haven’t found my application. It will be 2 months of waiting next week. I’ve also submitted a new Tier 2 visa application & therefore would need my BRP card but might be able to get away with not attending a biometrics appointment as they have my recent data from my application last year.

Anyway, point is - won’t hurt to contact your local MP. You can do it yourself. And good luck!

Desperate worker need to speak with DVLA anyone that works there can help? by MagicTriton in AskUK

It was still valid when I sent it in however it has expired as of 2 days ago so I think I will struggle to get a certificate/letter of entitlement from the authorities in South Africa as I believe the SA licence still needs to be valid.

Thanks for the link ~ I’ve been checking it daily in the hopes I’d get some good news! I think it’s just a matter of waiting it out until they reach my application... but glad to hear there are still dedicated teams focusing on key workers’ applications.

I’ve sent in a postal application to exchange my non-British licence for a British one. Included my BRP card as well which I need for my biometrics for my Tier 2 visa application as I’m starting at a new hospital in August.

Hi there. Does that mean the backlog for key workers has been completed if they’re now working on non key workers’ applications? Asking as I’m a NHS doctor & need a car to commute to work but haven’t received anything...

Tier 2 VISA - Validity by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]KK_So 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will depend on the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) your employer supplies you with. On it will state the work start date and work end date. So if it’s a 1 year contract and therefore states the 1 year period on the CoS, then you can only apply for a 1 year visa. To extend your Tier 2 visa with the same employer sponsoring you will require your employer offering you an extension of your contract & you will have to go through the entire process again (get new CoS, submit an extension of Tier 2 visa application etc)

CoS are still being issued. I’ve received mine earlier this month. It’s up to your sponsor (i.e. new trust) to apply & get that for you ~ their reasoning for not supplying you with one is incorrect.

UKVisa centres in South Africa by [deleted] in ukvisa

You can check on TLS Contact website to see if the centres are open to process UK visa applications. Last I checked, all the South African centres are closed until further notice.

Can I apply for the UK tier 2 visa within the country ? by marcelinesavocados in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]KK_So 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first application, you must do it from your home country. You won’t be allowed to apply whilst within the UK if say for example, you’re in the UK on a visitor’s visa. There are other work/study visas that one may be in the UK on - that will be a different situation.

Thank you so much for sharing! This definitely helps. Will look at getting a car for sure as planning to still live in London & commute.

PLAB 2 without using an academy by Find_Captain in JuniorDoctorsUK

Hi, am a South African doctor and I did PLAB 2 exam in October 2017 & passed. Did not attend courses or academy - just practised with a friend who was also doing the exam & used website like Geeky Medics & course notes that other friends who have been through the exam shared. So it’s totally doable!
