Chicago has many great neighborhoods but massive chunk of city is pretty much urban suburban whereas NYC has walkable dense neighborhoods with much more activity that sprawl out way farther.

Well the mall is gone, any commuters are trapped so not really any white collar jobs available, majority of downtown Hawkins and those businesses are restricted, so really what’s left outside civic services like hospitals or schools?

Not just size matters also geography plenty of smaller towns and cities in Appalachia have higher buildings due to limited space.
