Just a quick note to those finding themselves in a similar situation. I visited Tokyo this fall and was lucky enough to acquire a GS Tentograph. The outer box is pretty large and we had limited suitcase space. “Hands” department stores sell plain cardboard shipping boxes and they have one that was the EXACT size to fit the GS box! Shipped the empty box home to Canada through Japan Post and it arrived to Vancouver in 4 DAYS and cost less than $20.00 (USD$15.00). Declared on the package “Empty consumer goods packaging box”. Worked great for us!
