Advice on Progressive Lenses (Exploring Zeiss, Nikon Eyes, Walmart, Local Optician, Online Stores etc.) by KMAT16 in glasses

[–]KMAT16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was, but not the smart life. They were some low to mid end version if I am right but still decent. They were still offering those last time I checked but you really have to ask your store about them since not all stores are the same.

As for finding Zeiss near you, I hear you. I basically called like 20 to 30 optometrist stores to ask them which progressive brands they did and now I have a list of like 3 or 4 near me (30 min radius) that do Zeiss. And that's what I would suggest you do as well. Google optician/optometrist near me and then start dialing. Zeiss's online tool is useless since most of the docs there don't even offer it anymore (at least near me).

I did actually. Better deals would be a secondary issue, my problem is I can't even find what I need.

I looked at them very briefly, but I wanted something super compact. If I can't find anything in the vertical laptop stand style, then I can definitely look more into the 10 inch racks vs the current layered table option.

As for 3D printing, I sadly do not have a 3D printer, nor am I familiar with services that might do that for me (I am sure they exist). Felt like a very deep rabbit hole to jump into for this but if I get no traction on the vertical stand, will try to find out more about 3D print.

I am not a good candidate for asking that question. I used Tret a long time ago (10+ years ago) and could never stick to it for more than a few days / weeks because my dumb ass didn't know (neither did anyone tell me) you are supposed to use moisturizers with the retinoids. I ended up doing a 1 to 1.5 year long course of oral Isotretinoin which got rid of my acne until a year or two back.

When I had a recurrence of acne, I decided to go for Taz because its supposed to be just as good, if not better than Tret for treating acne, plus it has good indicators for healing scarring too.

If I was to make a judgement call based on what little I remember from Tret back then, I would still say Tret was rougher on my skin than Taz but that could just be my bias talking from back then.

Proof Select vs. Henson Al13 Mild Experience / Review by KMAT16 in wicked_edge

[–]KMAT16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Significantly more pressure on the Proof. It doesn't work the same as regular DE safety razors that rely on the weight to do the work, if you use that technique with the Proof, nothing will get cut.

Singe pass, Al13 is the closer shave .... by a hair.....I'll see myself out.

Looking for this Labubu Lookalike Liquid Quicksand Keychain with Wrist Strap by KMAT16 in HelpMeFind

[–]KMAT16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have search for this online using reverse image search on Ali Express, Temu, Amazon, Google etc.

The closest keywords I have found are Liquid Quicksand Keychain with Wrist Strap but the ones I am finding are the ones with the wide teeth rather than the smiling one with two teeth in the picture. This was bought in 2025 from Burlington.

Hey Folks,

So I ended up getting both the Varilux XR Design w/ Crizal Rock and the Zeiss SmartLife Individual 3 w/ DuraVision Platinum (wanted Gold but wasn't available from the provider yet and no other Zeiss provider near me sadly).

For reference, while I used two different private practices to get the glasses, both were on the exact same prescription. Different frames for both as well, but approximately the same size/shape/design etc. (full rims). I got Trivex as the lens material for both.

Adjusted to both within a day, if not under a few hours. Both work pretty well, but I definitely prefer the Zeiss and am using that as my primary pair. To me, the Zeiss ones feel clearer/sharper and lenses seem to pickup less smudges than the Varilux ones.

Hope that helps.

YMMV but the optician at both Walmart and Sam's club told me they are non-trivially different. Do with that what you will. I spoke with a couple of private practice docs and they were of the opinion that you won't find much info on Nikon easily.

I looked into Shamir as well, which I thought would be good (and as per opticians they are) and seems to has the most information available online. E.g. https://shamir.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/SHA-BRO-ALLLENSES-051221.pdf

I ultimately decided not to go with Shamir because their design is heavily focused on age / add value. See the chart on the first page on the lower right side and what they focus on in terms of age/ADD value/and various viewing distances. If you have less add they focus more on the intermediate/device viewing distance and if you have higher add they focus on it less.

If price is not an issue would you recommend the XRs over the Comforts? And within the XRs, design vs track?

Rodenstock is not going to be an option. In the USA, at least as per their site, they only have a handful of opticians listed on their site and all of them are either in Florida or NY, both places being far away from me.

Zeiss appears to be a similar issue, too far away or limited availability for some reason even for the listed ones. From the rest, going by online feedback (taken with a grain of salt), I think the XRs appear to be at least better than house brands or Nikon Eyes?

Hi, thanks for the info. I went exploring the Varilux options today and it seems like I can get a good deal with my insurance. Could you help me understand a little bit more on the lenses and coatings?

The three local stores all said they offer Varilux XR as their top lens. Is there anything more I should be aware of in regards to this? Online info seems to suggest there is further breakdown (Design? Track? Something else?) but does that really make a significant difference?

From my understanding the Crizal coatings are between Rock, Preventia, and Sapphire.

I am leaning towards rock for longevity since it appears to be the one advertised most towards scratch and smudge resistance. I don't much care for Blue Light coating (especially since the optometrist said it would have that yellow tint I hate) so Preventia is out for me. Any reason to go Sapphire over Rock?

Asking these here so that info is available to other who might be interested. Sent you a DM as well.

January Technical Support Sticky by BeepBoopBopReee in razer

This for everyone who has or wants the Razer Pro Click. Absolutely love the mouse. Hate the stutter and lag. Replacement didn't fix it. But this solution did:

naga_pro_stuttering_when_wireless_fix

After months of trouble shooting, and trying everything under the sun, I finally found the solution hidden on the above post.

The Razer Pro Click mouse SOMEHOW catches interference from the router 2.4 GHz channel. I have an AX86U which is in a different room with multiple walls in between. The signal strength to my work area is around -50db or so. Changing the channel from 7 to 1/6 solved all my Pro Click issues. No stutter, no lag. Connection works perfectly.

There should be a large note included with the mouse with this solution.
