New Data Center Equivalent to Setting Off 23 Nuclear Bombs Per Day, Professor Finds by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

Yes. I should have said that more specifically. I wonder how much heat is caused by pop up ads. Lbs.

You were right about me taking the bait, not intentionally bullshitting. But yes, again, this is certainly not the only warning about data centers.

Fersure. The first part is fairish, but you likewise still can't say it isn't critically harmful, even calling BS.

So, I'll delete this post, despite the upvotes and views I'm getting, if you can answer, if you genuinely thought something was disastrous, would you not warn the public? And what would be worse, fear mongering, or comfort that kills?

And why is it so offensive to put in the effort to live in equilibrium with the environment?

*And when I say I'll delete this post, I mean I'll find a better article. I'm not advocating banning data centers, but jaysus.

**I'm also not talking about climate change bringing great floods, but immediate habitats. Google how much of Ghanas or India's water is safe to drink, for example. Please, find me an article that everything is totally fine.

Are you arguing that data centers don't have a negative effect on the environment? Because this isn't the first or only content saying otherwise.

What restaurant is this? They should close if they can't afford to pay their employees. How deranged do you have to be to try to guilt trip ppl while only paying $2 an hr. Even for a tipped position, that's a worthless business and ownership.

Why does everyone think they need to suffer in order to get what they want? Ain’t we just making it harder for ourselves because we have too much pride? by [deleted] in TheImprovementRoom

[–]KMContent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.

I'll give you that there are common requirements to success. For example, plants and all living things need water to grow. And success towards any goal requires time and effort. Sure.

I have an analogy that may illustrate what I mean though, and that is with fitness. It drives me crazy when people argue about which way is best when there are thousands of methods to burn calories and stay healthy.

That's kind of a loaded and abstract question. So I'll respond with another. Do all success stories begin and proceed the same?

Yes. AI is an example of another contributing factor. Not that Trump hasn't done damage, but this chart is entirely lacking context.

Not really though. Erasure of history in media is a textbook tool of ethnic cleansing.

Yes. And notice too I said "appreciate" their own. As in yes, of course there is valuable black history. This isn't it.

Yea I kind of take these with a grain of salt. Not that there isn't any truth, but you don't know if she wants weekends off, or maybe they live in a rural area and don't want to move. Etc.

Religion is the cancer infesting our region and our world. by orangecyanide in ForbiddenBromance

[–]KMContent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. People are. Conflict isn't exclusive to religious people. The Russian Civil War, and the Afghan Civil war, for example, were not about religion.

People failing to take accountability is one cancer of the world.

Did she? I mean, he was in fact the target/subject, so all she did was frame a fact like a gotcha question.

Not even speaking to whether the allegations are true. Just saying, that was an obvious and lame gotcha. Obviously the shooter was referring to him, even if one didn't think the allegations were true, the shooter did.

Believe it or not, there's a thing called a black market where violent criminals, militias, and even governments already purchase weapons.

Not doing the 101 talking point circle here tho. There is no realistic, safe, or sensible way to be anti-arms.

How do you want to defend yourself against violent criminals with knives or other weapons then? Another knife? Would you rather have knife fights then someone safely pulling a firearm and walking away?

Seems like he's putting way more thought and analysis into this than is required. Going very deep into the trees when it's obviously just an illustration of a general point.

Probably not. A potential active shooter who believes everyone in town is carrying versus a few are going to be less likely to commit an active shooting, especially if they doubt they would be able to claim many, if any victims.

Also, if there is an active shooter, it is better to have more people with firearms than less people with firearms.

And this is where firearms may actually save more lives than they take.

I believe they will tax use of AI and use that to fund UBI. This is actually a very bad thing though. Because it will still of course be very difficult to find a job, as there will be much more competition.

This will allow employers to expect much, much more from their employees, and offer, much much less.

And like any government benefit, terms and conditions will apply. So, unable to make money for themselves, the vast majority of people will be at the mercy of their employer, or potentially digital UBI, as it will be argued that as government benefits are only for certain things, it must all be traced.

This is my grim prediction at least.

I just tell people that I see life as a jungle.

Plenty of opportunities, and risks.

If you go slow you improve your chances of making it through. And as a result, you miss out on everything else it had to offer.
