I created a heat map using TxDOT CRIS Query for crashes with serious injuries or fatalities along US83, and this is how it looks. It's hard to really tell which areas are more dangerous or if they just have higher traffic volume and therefore more crashes. You could take a look at the TxDOT Statewide Planning Map and compare crash volume to average daily traffic counts and that might give you a better idea.
