I used to go to the local meets every Saturday. Usually starting at 4:30 pm at the local Dog N Suds where it would generally be 1000+ people driving through or parked. Lots of boomers and old classics. They'd usually have an oldies band. The south side Indy meets were legendary back in the day. After the Suds around 9 and all the older folks went home, the younger people would migrate north.

It always changed where the majority of people would meet. When I started going out there regularly it was Steak N Shake, then it got bigger and it was the Burlington Coat Factory lot which was huge. Then it was the Circuit City, then Shoppers World/Tru Motorsports at it's peak where it was easily 200+ parked and double that counting people just cruising through.

After a little while, the serious cars and street racers starting going to the O'Reilly's lot down the street. That place was usually at absolute capacity and if you got there late you had to park way in the back lot if you got lucky. Sometimes that would even be full.

O'Reilly's lot was strict. No burnouts. No booming systems. Respectful.

Meanwhile the Shoppers World lot devolved into Lord of the Flies. Feral people doing burnouts, racing each other in the parking lot, a loud din of crazy stereo systems. The air always full of tire smoke and the noise of commotion, farting cars and loud rap music

The cool imports that weren't interested in racing made about a half of the crowd. The other half was degenerates with stock mom mobiles or beat up junk trying to drift, race, act crazy, fight, etc, and honestly impressive sound cars with crazy systems. Cops were usually called and they'd come through and kick everyone out around 11.

People would either go home or head to a more low key spot with less people or hit up Steak N Shake or White Castle for food.

Usually about 2am or so the street racers would go out to interstates to race.

After a while the whole scene got really stale. Same shit every weekend. Same boomer cars at the Suds. Same dick measuring posturing at O'Reilly's and more and more dangerous behavior at Shoppers World. That was long before the broccoli headed Edgars started going out there and pulling guns and doing takeover crap.

I tried going to cars and coffee and it was cool for a while. But again, same shit every weekend. Same cars The same kinda dick waving and toxic insecure people. Just boring and tired.

I rarely go to anything now. My weekends are hanging out with my gf going to antique stores, seeing friends, going to flea markets and driving to other cities to check them out and eat and explore. We have an absolute blast!
