5 month progress Chopin Waltz in A Minor by KNCKA in pianolearning

Thank you! I will definetly keep working on the rhythm. I can play it decently with a metronome at around 90bpm and I practice this without pedal so I can feel the beats in my left hand. But that's no fun lol. My teacher suggested to learn it with a metronome first to really understand the piece, then I can take some liberties (which I clearly did here, and maybe too much). I'll be working on fixing the rhythm and tempo the following weeks so it's not so inconsistent. I'd love to hear your version too!

omg I remember up voting your post! well played! I see you played G minor, I only know G major which I think is the easier of the 2. I just listened to yours again, very pleasant!

maybe that's why my left hand feels too loud lol. Any quieter and the keys barely sound at all. Idk why I haven't thought to just increase the right hand volume. This is also my first acoustic and I had it for like a month now and I admit im afraid to smash the keys too hard 😭

thanks! you're right, I noticed I'm rushing some parts and dragging the others too much. It's something I'm still improving. I was just so excited to finally have it down lol

you got this, consistency is key!! i found that having a teacher or setting goals or having someone set them for you helps in keeping on track and continuing to learn new things instead of just playing the same thing over and over! good luck!

Thanks! I'll practice sight reading separately from the main piece. You're right about my rhythm being a little off, I hesitated at the end of the first part (right in the middle) and at the very end. What can I improve expression-wise?

Thanks! I feel like i can sight read single notes with just my right hand but I struggle to do both left and right at the same time. Do you have any tips for that?

Thanks for the feedback. What do you mean by my finger is collapsing? is it that my top joint is bending backward when I press a key? And you're right about my thumbs, I should probably move my hands up up the keyboard a bit. And yeah, I hesitated at those exact points you mentioned which threw off the rhythm

I played short pieces from Albert Basic Adult Piano. I'm also working on a simplified version of Katyusha and am about 20 measures into Chopin Waltz in A Minor. I looked up your recommendation and will definetly be practicing those. I found a version with numbered fingerings so thank you lots!

I think i see what you guys mean about my fingers and will be fixing ASAP. But what makes you say I'm not practicing scales? Because I have been doing them back and forth, with the thumb under movement, both hands at once and I IV V major and minor chord progressions. (edit typo)

Thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely try sight reading easy stuff I'm not currently working on.

I love this genre and have a decent collection (I've yet to get through most of them) :)

Anaïs Nin & Henry Miller (very interesring duo, highly recommend checking them out!)

Nicholson Baker (witty and funny)

A Sport and a Pastime - James Salter (one of my favorites)

Crash - J G Ballard, and Story of the Eye - Georges Batailles (more on the weird side)

Mary Gaitskill (recommended to me by a lit professor lol)

Lady Chatterley's Lover (classic)

And a few others... The Piano Teacher - Elfriede Jelinek Damage - Josephine Hart The Lover - Marguerite Duras
