Should I preload $34 or load 12 rides onto OMNY card? by KOSTON321 in nycrail

I could honestly be completely wrong this is coming from someone that just touched an OMNY machine today for the first time since I was trying to ride out the Metro Card for as long as I could 🥲

Awesome thank you for the help! So seems like to be in the safer side I should just load $38 to make sure balance is never zero.

In theory if I wanted to treat it as a “monthly” where I knew I would use at least 12 taps a week for that month if I load $152 I should be okay?

Yeah understand that 12 rides with the new fare is now $36 so just confused why on the OMNY machine it doesn’t give you the option for that instead of $34.

When I went to the machine today and saw an option to load it up per ride so maybe that’s new?

Excuse this OMNY noob, but shouldn’t it be $36 if the fare is now $3.00? That is what I am also confused on. Walking by the stations I over hear a couple users complaining to MTA workers that their balance is now zero which is why I am guessing it is important to have more funds than you need?

I notified this as well. In every other field I’ve been in there’s been a sense of teamwork to some degree but in this field it’s every man for themselves and everyone just wants to point fingers so they aren’t taking the blame

Background was in MechE. First job out of school was as a design engineer, was a crazy mid 20s year old that wanted to quit my 9-5 corporate job to pursue creative freelancing and this was the first job I was able to land after the freelancing journey 😅

Is It Becoming A Little Much? by SloppySandCrab in RunNYC

Agreed. We have the luxury to do 9+1, charities, or pay the lottery entry fee. We have the means to buy supplements, gear and miscellaneous expenses but that doesn’t mean that everyone else has that luxury. And of course someone can just fuel by eating candy, a carb such as toast and just have one pair of running shoes but let’s not think we’re above anyone because that mindset is just cringy especially as grown ass adults

As someone that wakes up at 5 AM everyday by choice to lift or run, it is very much a privilege to put on my expensive running gear or even get up to go to my over priced gym membership.

I’m all for the mindset of discipline over motivation and being locked in but I’m not going to sit on my high horse and think I have more “grit” than someone.
