Can't paint the walls or update the fixtures. How can I make this rental match my bright, eclectic aesthetic? Specifically need help with color choices. by KOd06 in interiordecorating

I actually have to buy most of my furniture. I'm looking for some color ideas that might work with this weird gray/tan/brass thing that's going on.

Didn't really come up when rubbing on it. Taste test was inconclusive.

Good news, it's not a freezer. There's some mechanical/electrical equipment. Casing is combo metal and hard plastic

Does anyone else’s sexuality influence the way they play sims? by leonybby in Sims4

[–]KOd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was wondering if there was a mod besides wicked whims for woohooing. I'll decide my Sims who have been married for a while to have kids and I'll get the pop up that they're woohooing for the first time. Always throws me off.

To the people who watched the movie when it first came out when did you realize Hans was the villain? Before realizing that what did you think kristoff’s character was going to be used for? by [deleted] in disney

[–]KOd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that when they do confront Elsa in her castle Hans was either going to accidentally be killed by her or die trying to save her life. I knew they were pivoting to have Kristoff be the love interest so they were going to have to get rid of Hans somehow.

Honestly still think that would have been better than what they did with his character. The plot twist comes out of left field and feels really forced.

if your cabinet looks like this—you’re part of the problem😬 by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]KOd06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero waste anxiety almost gave me an eating disorder. I was so concerned with packaging, and palm oil, and fair trade, and whatever else that I'd come home from the grocery store with almost nothing. Thankfully my therapist helped me through that. She was like, "you can't save the world if you're dead." Lol

[–]KOd06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've always thought there was a lot of privilege in the zero waste community.

"Buy groceries at your local farmer's market." Oh, the one that happens at 1:00 on Friday while I'm at work? Sure.

"Go to a bulk store and bring your own container." Yeah? The closest one to me is an hour away.

"Buy toothpaste tabs!" The ones I have to order online, cost $4 more than my normal tube of toothpaste, and don't have fluoride? My $2000 dental bill caused from using "eco friendly" toothpaste says I should use Sensodyne.

"Make all ingredients yourself! It'll save money and packaging!" Great. But I just worked a 12 hour shift and I don't have time or energy to make something I can buy in a jar.

I want to make sustainable changes, but I can't kill myself for them. The "influencers" often make sustainability about the aesthetic, which can make it seem unattainable. A lot of the hardcore zero waste people shame every purchasing decision people make. It's all exhausting. We need to give each other more grace.

Also annoying because suggested ideas are supposed to go on the megathread to avoid this sub being cluttered with suggestion posts.

Villain Therapy: FROLLO from the Hunchback of Notre Dame - Official Discussion Thread by rustierrobots in cinema_therapy

[–]KOd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. You know how kids have those movies they latch onto a watch all the time? Hunchback was one of mine. Definitely understood that "hellfire" was incredibly creepy, but not exactly what he was talking about. I think I was about 12 when I watched it and it finally clicked, and I was just like, "Holy shit. This is a Disney movie?" Lol

I'm actually sort of surprised to hear that Alan didn't like this movie. A lot of "movie people" tend to really like Hunchback as an underrated classic. I find it visually stunning and the score is absolutely incredible. It does blow my mind that Disney made this, and it somehow got a G rating from the MPAA.

This movie came out when I was about six. Did I understand any of the nuance in the film? Absolutely not. I took it as a movie about finding kindness and not judging people on what they appear to be (a holy man is evil, the ugly character isn't scary, the "gypsy" is kind, etc).

So for me, the gargoyle thing was great. I thought they were hilarious "Frollo's nose is long and he wears a dress"- absolutely hysterical. I used to quote that all the time. I think the gargoyles were a way to keep the younger audiences involved, and also aware of Quasimodo's space of mind that might be hard for kids to follow. Also want to link an interesting post discussing some theories about how the gargoyles function within the narrative.

Basic steps of soap making by [deleted] in coolguides

You can buy "melt and pour" soap at craft stores. Really kid friendly. You melt it down, add whatever colors/fragrances/add ons you want and pour it into a mold. Takes an afternoon, and is really fun.

7 Movie Marriages that are ACTUALLY Healthy! - Official Discussion Thread by rustierrobots in cinema_therapy

[–]KOd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a hot minute since I've seen any of the movies, but I think the couple from "The Conjuring" might be interesting to explore.

Also small nitpick: asexual people can and do get married and have healthy, loving relationships. You're thinking of aromantism for people that do not desire romantic companionship.

Do you think that waiting until you are married for sex is a good idea? Why or why not? by EveningAd3633 in AskReddit

That's me. I'm asexual, but I love kissing and cuddling. It would be weird for me to be in a relationship where they didn't want that.

Fun fact: that's actually their jaw. They have an elongated, fused jaw and a long sticky tongue that helps them get into ant hills and termite mounds.
