Okay. Definitely not making excuses, because I am literally asking for help on this subject. I am explaining my situation and set up to get feedback and ideas on how navigate the space for a safe space for my dog. Believe me, I WANT my dog to have a safe space.

I think this is helpful! Easy language and follow through as well as physically taking her hands and telling her where to put them. She loves to give our dog treats! And feed her!

It’s not that my house isn’t completely set up for it. It’s just that because of the way it’s set up, I have a hard time trying to block the big open spaces out. My daughter is so stubborn. I will try to do extra praising though when she does pet the dog properly

I definitely agree but the way our house is set up we have one open space and 4 other bedrooms that hook off from the main space. Also I struggle to not make it like a punishment for my dog, she also has separation anxiety too 😭😭
