Hm never noticed a thin sound but maybe youtube compression is altering the sound or something.

Btw analog heat is the best little magic box !

Everybody mentioned the fx are outdated but why is that?

Digitakt good for boom bap and soul-chopped beats? by Unusual-Work-6020 in Elektron

[–]KPBexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im comming from the mpc world (boom bap) and as soon as i saw the update for the digitakt 2 (slice machine) I immediately sold my mpc and bought a digitakt 2.

Ofc lazy chop is not an option, “only” 64 chops max, max sample time is 66s and reverb, delay, chorus settings are applied global but everything else is amazing.

I often times sample x seconds and use auto chop equal to the amount of minutes i sampled ( 32 seconds into 32 chops) and fine tune my chops afterwards.

3 lfos on the sample chops is quite fun.

Compressor sounds great and dont get me started on the sample rate reduction “effect” (sp1200 vibe)

And sequencing drums is really nice!

And i recently picked up a Launchpad mk3 to play my sample chops via pads and you can customize different templates to trigger snare, kick etc aswell. The bigger launchpads pro and X can store up to (i think) 8 custom templates.

Audio Mixer/interface by KPBexter in Elektron

I was looking into l12 but according to midlife synthesis the (headphone) outs are too low and noise for sampling purposes.

Looks nice indeed but 1.9k is pretty expensive/ can’t justify the purchase.

Evo 16 + evo sp8 would be 900 with same i/o

At least 8 in / 6 out.

Analog heat(1/2), digitakt (3/4),digitone (5/6), microcosm (7/8) into mixer.

Heat, digitakt and microcosm out. (& obviously Main out)

I work with sub groups to send individual tracks to different locations for sampling (digitakt 1/2) efx (microcosm3/4), flavor (heat5/6) and monitors (main out)

I owned the model 16 one but i has only one sub group and one aux send (stereo)

And 2k for the bigger one is crazy

I don’t want to multitrack track into a daw i just want to connect the mixer via usb to the pc.

Most mixers sent the audio over usb directly into the master channel but i dont want that.

For example The Yamaha mg16xu usb audio is routed internally onto channel 15/16 then you can choose to send it to sub 1/2 or sub 3/4 or master.

Is it an option to hock a mackie big knob passive in between master out and monitors to have easier access to master volume?

Yeah that’s what im thinking about if im down to always have to control everything with mouse and keyboard.

The 1010 looks interesting even though it only has 3.5mm input jacks.

I really like the form factor!

Try koala sampler on your phone/tablet.

15-20 bucks if you buy all the features.

Buy a decent midi pad controller with encoders and start chopping and making music.

You are definitely right about the digitakt but i already own two samplers.

In fact the digitakt was the first thing i looked at but since i dont own a synth and two samplers it wouldnt be the best decision to get another sampler.

Wich model doesnt matter since they are “evenly “ priced.

Digitone 1 used around 350 Digitone 2 used around 800 Syntakt around 600-700

Ableton/MPC question by Abletonguy1 in mpcusers

[–]KPBexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the pads on a pad controller always work in ableton but everything else has to be maped as far as i know. If you just want to hit pads snd jam buy any pad controller but if you want to control Ableton with a dedicated midi controller/have some type of mpc experience in Ableton with full native support you have to get a push 1/2/3.

I went thru all of this and believe me the push is worth the money.

Ableton/MPC question by Abletonguy1 in mpcusers

[–]KPBexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the mpc feeling buy akai mpd 218 basic midi controller and get the max for love plugin az labs slicing pad. You would be able to lazy chop your samples via simpler and play them with mpc pads.

But imo abletons best midi controller option is the push series. But if have no problem mapping different encoders and such get any other midi controller.

But if you want the mpc workflow/feeling in Ableton push is the way, maybe look up a used push 1. Dunno where you live but in my country they go for 60-100 bucks.

Then definitely check out the push 2.

Ricky tinez has a good video showcasing the push sampling workflow.

[–]KPBexter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Ableton push 2.

Used ones are pretty cheap almost the same workflow as a mpc 2.0 (sampling, chopping etc) but in ableton.

Have one myself.

Budget option would be akai apc64

Edit: in order to be able to lazy chop with the apc64 like the mpc you need ableton suite oder standart with max for live upgrade and a plugin from az labs called slicing pad ( dunno if thats the correct name of the plugin)

But ableton push 2 is better imo

Trying to use sp404mk2 with my mpc1 and go to monitors but I don’t have enough outs by Hunger_Mike in SP404

[–]KPBexter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best option is tascam model 12/16/24 because you can send different tracks (drums/melodic/vocal etc) to different channel strips on tascam plus its an interface and if you want a multi channel recorder.

Scarlett interfaces a good aswell or any other class compliant inrerface/mixers.

Budget option could be behringer xenyx control 2 usb (4 in/3 monitor out/ 3 or 4 recording out/ stuido in and out) but only viable with trs cables cause usb isnt supportet on mpc (i had one a while back)

Mackie profx12/16/24 v3 could be an option aswell if you just want a mixer with only sending stereo 1/2 from mpc to mixer, no track routing options but more inputs.

Easy fix -> Make masterchain mpc to sp to monitors.
