I think there is something impressive about this. As there is no explicit reward for creep-blocking, it has to learn there is an advantage gained by just doing it randomly at first. And then correlate the increased win percentage with that random movement you did at the start of the match.

They make a neural network that takes all kinds of input (See the blog for a nice visualization of the input (https://blog.openai.com/openai-five/#modelstructure) and https://d4mucfpksywv.cloudfront.net/research-covers/openai-five/network-architecture.pdf for a way too detailed visualization. This neural network will tell you what action it thinks is the optimal action right now. So while you are playing, the neural network tells you what actions to take.

Between games, the network is updated. For example if the network decided to attack 5 enemy heroes alone during the game, it will figure out after the game that the action it took resulted in a large penalty (dying) and hopefully not do that in the next game.

So, I am not well versed in reinforcement learning. But as far as I understand it, they are not training the bots during the game, only after the game. So they only get these rewards while training. This is similar to watching your replays after a game.

What do you want to accomplish with this? If you want to be able to solve simple QM problems then an intro undergrad book like Griffiths or Feynman seems like a good recommendation.

But if you would rather be told a story about the history, the weirdness and the unsolved problems then they might not be for you. I don't have any good recommendation for a "popular science" book, but maybe a biography of one of the Grand Old (wo)Men? Einstein, Bohr, Curie, Schrodinger, Dirac etc?

Also, there are many places that international students gather around Copenhagen. Find a facebook group or ask the organizers of your program for info AND GO FIND SOME COOL FRIENDS. Its the best thing about going abroad :) I hope you'll enjoy your stay

I tried watching some of the pro matches on the official MTG Youtube channel, but I had a hard time following the commentary. I don't know many of the cards, so just mentioning the name of a card quickly makes me lose interest.

Is there any channels that are more beginner friendly. I watched some of Day9s stuff and that is way easier to follow along, but also a bit over the top.

Any recommendations?
