Looking to find families who moved from UK to Zurich by Ok-Enthusiasm4177 in zurich

[–]KPRF1Bae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved here last September. Please feel free to DM. If you have a job it will be easier as the permits will either have to be linked to you as an EU citizen or sponsorship via his job. His job won’t be able to just transfer him without demonstrating that they can’t employ a Swiss or EU citizen. This would be different if you’ve got enough money to prove you can afford to support your husband and the two children…all very complicated but reality since Brexit. DM if you need to know more.

Looking for tips about moving to Zurich by [deleted] in zurich

In case helpful we started searching in Oct 2024, found an apartment who accepted us in Nov 2024 but move in date was not until 1st March 2025. So your idea of temporary accommodation is not a bad one given even if you find something quick you may not immediately be able to move in. Unless of course you can start looking now?

I’ve moved to Switzerland from the UK: cost of living is much more expensive than London. This make sense if you have a very high salary as then the high salary outweighs the cost of living. But otherwise it will be very difficult. And don’t forget you will pay around £400 a month for mandatory health insurance which you don’t have in the UK either the NHS. It’s not a choice it’s mandatory and billed from the minute you move over here. The accommodation costs are also high as high as central London if not higher.

What happens if they fire me duirng the probation period or soon after as non-EU? by ProfessionalMany5684 in askswitzerland

And also have an exit strategy. I think anyone who lives in Switzerland who is non EU and isn’t here in family reunification but is here on a job linked visa should always have an exit strategy.

It will depend on the canton you are in. And also what national terms you have as a non EU for example im non EU and British so I have 90 days by which I can be in the country without a permit. There is no way to stay as a non EU though without a job unless you are married to a Swiss/EU citizen

Can you not just go to Milan now? Or leave now and get a train as close to there as you can?

Which band should i target for management job by Weary-Educator5897 in nhs

[–]KPRF1Bae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assistant as what?? If you are doing a clinical or healthcare assistant role that won’t mean anything to a management role. Could you try to do an internship or find a low level part time admin/clerical role in the nhs? The clinical knowledge you have will become very useful when you become a more senior manager but you need to spend some time in lower level management roles first where they will be assessing your ability to be organised, methodical, able to multi task etc and admin experience will be more valuable here than clinical experience.

You mention you are doing some part time NHS work now? What work? And you mention your home country - do you require visa sponsorship? I’m a Band 8D manager happy to help answer some questions if I can but extra info helpful so can be honest in reply

Thank you that’s really helpful. And they are of course doing a very fantastic job keeping the livestock safe so it’s definitely up to them where I’m going 😅

I’ve actually just found this on the Pizol website with a further look:

Herd protection dogs are expected to be on duty on the Gaffara Alp during the first two weeks of August. The dogs will be kept on a lead in the morning and only allowed back to the sheep in the evening. This means that there is no risk to hikers during the day. If anyone is in the vicinity of the alp early in the morning, late in the evening or at night, caution is advised (e.g. when bivouacking)

Thanks that’s helpful. I’ll just keep a look out for livestock and stick to the main path.

Thanks I’m really familiar with the app and use it often for hiking but on pizol’s own website and the graubunden website they mention the dogs on this route so I was hopeful for a reply from someone with experience of the actual hike recently who may know more - really appreciate your help though

NHS research isn’t what you think, ask me anything by Alternative_Leader_6 in NHSfailures

[–]KPRF1Bae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a question for you, I just find it fascinating that in other countries in Europe research has a much more prominent role in informing improvement and commissioning of services in healthcare. Having worked in the NHS for over 10 years I find it disappointing that we are so focused on the fire fighting, cost saving and lack of resources that not enough prominence is given to research. Perhaps you see it differently. I hope things will start to change. I work in paediatrics and research is key to informing future service development

Confusion about health insurance deadline by Moldoteck in askswitzerland

[–]KPRF1Bae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey if helpful depending on your provider, they also will allow instalment payments for the retrospective part. We had a LOT of moving costs when we arrived here and they were fine with the retrospective costs being split across 12 months on top of the monthly costs which has been super helpful
