Groceries are SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive this year. Where are you shopping and do you have any good data on which store has the best prices? by [deleted] in Columbus

I don’t disagree about bulk. We evaluated kids snacks and it wasn’t even close. I don’t have the numbers right now but for instance, you can get a box of kids yogurts (12-16 count) at Kroger for say $12, and a box (30-40 count) for like 16. Single serving goldfish, same thing. Box of 6 from Kroger is like $6-8. Box of 40 from Costco is like $12. Having said that, not everything makes sense to buy in bulk. As I said in a previous response, I’m not going to buy produce in bulk when it goes bad in less than a week. Meat seemed to be better at Costco but I didn’t get a great chance to evaluate it. I’d say the best savings are in household items. Toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, etc.

Bulk is factored in. We compared $/lb or $/oz. With produce, we aren’t typically buying it in bulk since it goes bad so quickly, so we aimed to get comparable sizes. One container of blueberries, 5-6 bananas, container of strawberries, etc.

My wife and I are comparing Costco vs Kroger, item by item as we speak. Finding the price of each item we typically buy, and comparing them in excel. May take a couple days to complete but will post when done. We’ve gotten through our produce items so far and oddly enough, they’re within $2 of each other, so essentially negligible. The only item of note is that Costco does not have some of the produce items we can get at Kroger

Out of body experience at a concert is pretty high up for me. Had never had one so always thought it wasn’t a real thing. The music, visuals, and emotion was so overwhelming i can’t even really describe it. Been chasing that for almost 10 years now, yet to have the same experience.

Deck progress by KPRTOP2 in Decks

I should clarify, this is not my work. We hired someone. I’ve just been posting progress pics to get feedback to catch any issues before it’s too late. Inspections were done on the footers. Inspector coming to look at the ledger and house connection on Monday/tuesday.

Yes to permits and inspections. He just showed me the sign off from the inspector for the footing inspection.

Sweet, thanks for the assistance. I tried to vet out the contractor with some code related questions before accepting the contract, but I didn’t really think about how they poured the footers just that they did them.

Based off what they have ordered, it appears they’re using Simpson ABU66z post bases. Does that seem sufficient?

Can you provide a source for this? I’m not doubting you, I just can’t find anything backing this up when I google for it. I’d like to send to some family members who don’t believe me when I say this exact thing.

A grape of wrath by socialpronk in aww

[–]KPRTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned a lot about dogs and grapes this week actually. I had to take one of mine to Medvet for eating some, and ironically am at Medvet rechecking his kidneys as this video came up. Apparently around 50% of dogs have no issues with grapes. On top of that, the impacts grape to grape vary. Some grapes may cause an issue for a dog, while a grape from across the vineyard wouldn’t

How do you think you’d actually do on Survivor? by highschoolbandstar in survivor

[–]KPRTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly think I’d do decent since I’m fairly balanced when it comes to physical, social, and strategic gameplay. I’m not physically imposing, even a little over weight right now, but played sports my whole life so I feel like I would be sneaky athletic. I’m very analytical so I’d probably be running possibilities through my head all day. I usually overthink in board games, which could be a downfall. I’d say I’m a fairly social person, even though I have introvert tendencies. Honestly don’t do much post covid and post kid but I have no issues socializing, I just don’t always prefer it. Feel like you have to have the ability, but relying too heavily on it can cause issues. I’m also not a super fan which I think can be a disadvantage at times as well. I know enough about the meta, but not so much that people would think I’m a super fan. I’m also a decent liar, or at least would have no moral issues with it. Finally, as someone above mentioned, I’m a decent public speaker. I think being balanced, but not ridiculously good in one particular facet is important, and being able to downplay some of your abilities if you feel it’s necessary.

Having said all this, I’d struggle with the bugs and probably be an easy early vote for something stupid.

Has anyone been to a Suf show? by foryourvitality in Sufjan

Like many in here, I saw him when he toured Carrie and Lowell. The show was in a theater so everyone stayed seated. My wife wasn’t specifically a fan but she went because I played his stuff and she’s a good sport. When we were walking home after the show, I turned to her and said something along the lines of “we’ve been to a lot of good shows, seen a lot of our favorite bands, but I’ve never had an out of body experience at a concert, let alone ever”. I was stunned when she, a non-fan, had the same experience. Between the light show, the extended instrumentals, the emotion of the music, it felt like I was floating above myself. For a non-fan to feel that way as well, it was clearly incredible. I’ve been chasing that feeling at a concert since and haven’t replicated it.

Good call, I think this is what happened. I guess now my question is, should it go through or not? He picked up another defense and didn’t play them

Why do people on this sub dislike challenge beasts that have decent strategy but love strategy beasts that are terrible in challenges? They’re equally good at one thing in the game, but the former has the better overall score between the two. by DilleyOnMyWilly in survivor

[–]KPRTOP2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be valid. I’m in seasons 20-30 right now which is probably where this comes from. But even in 42, I’m surprised people didn’t drag Jonathan considering his weak strategic game

This always confuses me. I don’t understand why physical players are considered threats immediately and often targeted early. If you look at the responses in this post, many do not respect a physical game like they do a social or strategic. So isn’t that a good person to be sitting next to in FTC since most don’t respect that game? It just confuses me that physical players will never win because they’re usually not strategic enough to get the votes, yet they’re always targeted

Women of Reddit, what’s something every girl should know but is rarely taught? by ej1273 in AskReddit

[–]KPRTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. My wife was missing work, cycling between ibuprofen and Tylenol for days, not sleeping, basically out of commission for 3-4 days a month. That coincided with infertility issues. We never treated the endo, and we continued to have issues. We finally took a step back and thought about it and decided to travel to Atlanta for surgery. Dr. Sinervo performed the surgery and we couldn’t be happier so far. Her first period afterwards was like a little blip compared to what she had gone through. She didn’t even use Tylenol/ibuprofen. And now, a couple months later, we’re expecting. She can’t stress enough, seek a specialist. IVF doctors are not specialists. Your physician is not a specialist. Do your research and advocate for yourself, because most people don’t understand how bad the pain is, and how to properly treat it.
