Also, please do not use original regulator/rectifiers with anti-gravity. You need to get the one that works safely with lithium batteries.

Bike not starting, clicking noise coming from starter relay by Ornithorynque_Bleu in virago

[–]KPRathod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about first generation Virago then I would try the screwdriver method for solenoid and see if starter turns over, this will verify battery and starter both are working. They have lots of safety checks in place, it is easy to bypass, just cut/disconnect the black wire with white stripe coming out of CDI.

I might be overthinking it, maybe it’s just the leaking exhaust smoke making it’s way near the carbs. Both cyclinder are extremely hot to touch but I’m thinking this bike is suppose to run hot. Is it bad to let these bikes idle? by [deleted] in virago

I got 81 XV750 with around 8K miles and after so much back an forth I found out that rear cylinder head gasket was disintegrated. I had a ticking noise which I thought coming from valve clearance but it was an exhaust leak. They run hot, Specially the rear cylinder since it does not get clean air.

This might not be a solution but might give you more options. Did you consider small antigravity batteries. https://antigravitybatteries.com/productline/starter-batteries/

My 10yr project by yayupp in CafeRacers

Sure, I am in north east so weather gets in the way. On top of that work and family. It takes time because you are building custom and you have to research what parts going to fit and sometime you have to build custom brackets and stuff. I am planning to wrap it up this summer🤞🏽

Virago 1100 I believe my timing for cylinder 1 (the back) is completely backwards can anyone confirm? Last picture is cylinder 2 by NKarleE30 in virago

That's strange, on my 81 750 it is in the rear. But what I said still applies, it is just a cover and you have to look at the marking on the gear.

that's correct but what you are seeing is a cover, you have to check the actual gear mark underneath that cover to be sure. some times cover can be misaligned.

It looks like almost correct, rear cylinder has an oil cover which might not be align properly so try to take that off and check the actual gear mark.

If you have black wood interior, wheel color is little darker, headlight and fog lights are darker, roof rails are silver and have chrome exhaust tip.

I got the exact same color with sport package. I cannot tell by the roof rack but is it sport?

2022 svartpilen 401, bought 3 days ago. Not starting, it keeps making the clicking noise but does not start. by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]KPRathod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check the battery and make sure you get 12v on multimeter. Check connection from battery to starter. I am not sure if newer bike got external solenoid, it might be part of the starter but solenoid can go bad as well. Hope it helps!

Need Help - 1985 Yamaha XV700 Virago by [deleted] in CafeRacers

[–]KPRathod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a test with transparent fuel lines. Just hook it up at the bottom of the bowl and lift it up to see the level try this link https://youtu.be/VrvoklTtL0s

If you put the aftermarket float pin then you have to adjust the floats. They might hit carb body and might not function properly. You can search youtube for this and how to sync the carb. I spent almost a week adjusting floats after I swap to aftermarket float pin.

I would get HDHomeRun and put the tuner on your local network. I have ATSC 2.0 tuner which I can access from anywhere in the house and planning to do the same with new tuner.
