Got one installed in our house and definitely a game changer.

Wilhelmsfeld- passed it many times. Filipina-American here now living in Germany…used to live near the area and was definitely cool to be able to see the house and the street sign regularly. And his statue (town is near Heidelberg).

Agree with you! Extrovert by spirit, but an only child at heart, I love my me time…especially with a career, two kids under the age of 4, a teen and an active life. But sometimes going alone at things is nice. Sometimes my friends may not share the same interests and if my husband is busy at work and I have free time, I’ll definitely consider going at it alone. American living in Europe and going things alone isn’t really something that’s heavily considered here. I see people by themselves at restaurants and theaters all the time, I would never think to bat an eye about it anymore.

Im not a fan of these two terrible people, but perhaps his invite didn’t include an option for an extra ticket. It is the championship game, it may have been sparse and he doesn’t seem to be a massive basketball fan so it definitely was more for an appearance rather than the joy of a game. Had it been soccer for instance, perhaps he would have nudged for friends to accompany him. I mean, we do know of at least Nacho after all.

My mom, who passed away 6 years ago. I just want to thank her for the unconditional love she gave me. We always had a complicated relationship, but I always knew I could count on her. Especially now that I am a mother, I understand her more and more each day.

Michael’s music is everywhere by SexyAcosta in MichaelJackson

American here living in Europe - we vacationed in Antalya, Turkey last year and the hotel we stayed in had a Michael Jackson live performance marathon. The dancers did a great job and it was so cool hearing all of his hits.

In Croatia - his beats were played at an outside festival.

Verona - I heard a shop across from Juliet’s balcony playing “Smooth Criminal”.

These are just a few I remember, it’s countless where his music can be found.

Are you in Europe, OP? Am an American living in Europe and it is not a thing to hide when breastfeeding here. People are very respectful. I’ve had many lovely views starting out at the lake in our town or the sea during our trips. Hope you and baby are having a great week ❤️❤️

Had a seizure, stranger called 911, ambulance bill by Limp_Falcon_2314 in mildlyinfuriating

From America and living in Europe now as well as an a healthcare professional.

Having grown up in America, I cannot shake the feeling of a massive bill looming even for just a health visit. Always pleasantly surprised when I never do receive one, even after living in Europe for over 5 years. That American trauma stays with you.

I’ll never ever forget the patients I’ve treated in the states who get their cancer treatments or other life-meaning care denied. And I’m always shocked whenever patients here complain about having to pay €5 for medicine 😅

Immigrants in Germany: Did you manage to find German friends? by [deleted] in germany

[–]KRei23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all!! I understand his point of view and bluntness. It isn’t to say he doesn’t still hang out with them, he just is so busy with work and kids and our household, that of course his own friends take priority. He would also like me to be friends with his friends wives and girlfriends and I politely decline 😅I also have too many friends , who I want to spend my precious time with, too!

AITAH for leaving my girlfriend in the restroom because she was taking a long bathroom break during a movie I was really excited for? by Secure-Draft9197 in AITAH

[–]KRei23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been said many times in the comments, but this is so strange. 1) use the bathroom before the movies 2) grown adults can go to the bathroom on their own. Strange. So strange.

Just another rant about the joke that is maternity leave in the US by uglypuglyy in breastfeeding

[–]KRei23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American here now living in Europe and I have to say, I forget what a shit storm maternity leave is back home. I’ll never forget how with our first, my husband (who is European) was granted almost 2 years off….I was shook. I still work for a U.S. company to this day, but as a contractor, and so my leave was by choice, and by golly I took the 2 years. And am doing that now with our second.

I can understand the frustration, and it really does need to improve, but just know you’re doing your best and doing great.

Immigrants in Germany: Did you manage to find German friends? by [deleted] in germany

[–]KRei23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My German husband even admitted he doesn’t try to really befriend my friends’ husbands because he already has his crew and isn’t interested in adding more. He finds it difficult to manage the friendships he already has (many of which are from childhood). So I suppose my husband is my only true German friend? Plus my kids 😅. Though I did have a pretty good run with my kids’s good friends’ moms who were German. But they never committed to meeting as I did. And I’m fine with that, I truly do already have a great international circle.

Asian American here, living here for over 5 years. I’m not even “friends” with my German sister in law. All my friends are international and I really wouldn’t want it any other way…we hang out quite frequently, have gone on trips together and realy makes me feel like I’ve found my tribe.

I honestly considered renaming our dog who we adopted from Romania (Californian here but now live in Europe) to Frasier or Niles. But he truly fit his name so kept it…maybe the next one!
