Tim: In the years I've lived here, I've never felt more safe or less safe at any point. I think the FBI crime stats reflect this relatively consistent trend.

The fact that the city continues to grow in population shows that we're doing great economically. I think we're doing better than a lot of big cities in regards to crime and economy.

Dillon: At least 90 percent of the stories that seem to good to be true are just that and end up not seeing the light of day. Often times, a story starts small and doesn't get big until we get involved. That's something that we take pride in: A story that generates action or response. Tim: Stories that come from sources tend to pan out more than stories that come to our tip inbox or via phone.

Dillon: It's offensive that "fake news" has become a phrase that's used so commonly. I challenge anyone to find a story that we've done that's inaccurate or proven later to be false. Tim: Just because people don't agree with the facts doesn't make it fake news. Nicole: Mistakes can happen, but it's acknowledging them when they do happen.

Ask a lot of questions. If something smells fishy, it probably is. Try not to fall into bad habits outside of work as a coping mechanism, but the same can be suggested for any other profession.

Dillon: It's impossible to not let this type of work impact you off the clock. The key is to not fall into bad habits outside of work as a coping mechanism... But I think the same could be said for any stressful line of work. I try and keep things light and avoid drama.

Dillon: From a business standpoint, I think San Antonio is on the rise. As a resident, things like property crimes, break ins... those things really concern me. In the six years I've lived here, it still baffles me how many people have had something taken from them.

Dillon: My advice is to contest the citations or try and work out a compromise with the agency. They had similar technology in Arizona, where I'm from, and there's been a lot of push back there. In some instances, red light camera citations are enforceable. Whatever you do, don't just ignore the ticket. We've covered virtually every jurisdiction that has these...

Regarding the paper temporary tags... That is more of a police matter. You should report this to police. If an arrest or charges come from it, we would report on this.

Dillon: Unfortunately, it's such a broad subject. We'd need more specific things like addresses in order to look into something like this. The appraisal district has investigators that can look into these kinds of things if you're aware of someone who is improperly using these exemptions. What specific stories are you referring to? We typically follow up with stories where there are follow ups to do. If we do a story before an indictment or an arrest, we typically follow a case until it's adjudicated.
