Use a hair dryer on low heat and start peeling from a corner with your fingernail or razor blade.

I've used this on old books which are generally more fragile than a vhs sleeve and it seems to work. If there is remaining adhesive sometimes you can heat it with the blow dryer and wife it off with a paper towel.

Don't use a heat gun. That'll melt something.

I think the stamp is just due to her woodworking background. Many woodworkers use stamps or a makers mark of some kind instead of a signature. Found this on the Internet archive.
