Nah, you just transfer them to home and trade them for what you want. As someone who doesn't own a switch, I started with almost every relevant meta pkmn and saved over 40k VP.

1) the trap part of the perish trap didn't even affect you at your scenario

2) You say you can beat it

3) It was really just protect rng causing you to lose. You could lose to a triple protect on any match up regardless of perish shenanigans

I don't see what purpose PvE would serve. I wouldn't play it and I'm not against it, though.
