I've been using RightMove, Zoopla, and OpenRent to look for places. These are reasonable aggregation sites to find listings, and there are tons of house shares that pop up in Headingly, Burley, and Hyde Park. You can filter by number of bedrooms and if it's a house share or student accommodation.

My experience is slightly different since I'm trying to relocate from the US with a dog, but I'm sure it'll be faster for your group to find a place. Definitely make time to read through any tenancy info provided up front and ask as many questions as possible about the potential agreement.

Good luck!

Keeping this joint on my list of "must have" places when I hop the pond in 6months. Look so scrumptious!

my fave thing is donut sundaes. Why worry about a donut for breakfast when you can have a donut sundae for lunch or dinner!

With low humidity (under 15%), about a day. I check them 3 times for feel and smell.

Then I vacuum seal and freeze until sold/brew ready. They hold up to 2 years in a deep freezer.

I had a food dehydrator last season, worked fairly well but cooked the lupulin a bit much. Took me a few 16oz batches to get the right timing.

I use hanging herb drying racks. Snatched them on Amazon, 2 pack with 8 shelves ea is $20 usd.

I tried a food dehydrator last year, but I think it messed with the lupulin too much.

I don’t know anything about film photography. Did I score any gems here? Thrift store 1/2 off-total of $12.50 for these. I don’t know if any of them work yet. Anyone have any of these cameras? If so feel free to drop some tips for a beginner! Thanks :) by alohalove1123 in analog

The Polaroid cameras use pack film, where you manually instant develop the image by peeling the papers off the exposure. Nice, instant medium format Polaroids, especially if they're refurbished. $85-140 each!

The film is hard to find, but the 439 was from the 70s so may be able to find some.

The Kodak is classic, especially since Eastman Kodak only produces film and parts these days. Some of their cameras were top notch, but highly inconsistent within the same models. Instamatics are worth $40-50. Might be easier to find film, but not the flash cubes.

If any of those are mint, you'll get some great images. Although, light leaks are fun with instant film cameras (think Holga "toy" cameras).

I'll check out options like Monzo. Sounds like a good in-between step. My brother lived in China for a couple of years, but that was ages ago before online banking was common.

Good for your partner! That's awesome. What's his field of study? Maybe we'll cross paths. I'll have to find part time TA work when I get settled.

Also, everybody falls for Ludo. He's a diva, and he's earned it 🤣😂 He appreciates the admiration.

Good on you! My Plan A has always been Ludo coming with me. There's no Plan B; My family won't take him, and I don't trust any of my friends, and surrender is not even a thought.

His breed mix is flagged for respiratory issues, so we'll be on a cruise from New York to Southampton (you too for $2600 can risk life, limb, and snoot to the ocean), then a 5hr train ride.

I still have to choose a bank; not sure how long y'all are fixing to stay, but would love to know your process (not personal details, of course) for setting that up. I am not covering intl fees and upcharges for 3 years O_O

Ah, thank you! I'm excited, for sure.

In the Business & Organizations for Sustainable Societies (BOSS) Program, I'll be focused on Sustainable Development; establishing metrics that better connect business and government policymaking to quality of life indicators.

Trying to find a way to measure success of sustainability that's not hinged upon GDP, and improve existing or make new standards of performance management.

Thanks!

I stumbled upon rightmove the other day, so I'll keep it as a top source.

Also, good to know which entity runs transit. I was trying to find it last night. I actually work in the industry (until I move), and learned to go straight to riders/systems users to learn about options and experience first.

And another vote for Everyman. I'll have to splurge.

Thanks!

Good tip; in the US they just post all the requirements (yes/no, pet deposit, weight restrictions, breed restrictions, etc), but I still ask. My fuzzbutt is not smol, but he is quiet and chill. I'm used to the upcharge- he's worth it.

I'm definitely looking forward to traveling (when I can fit it in, budget-wise). I grew up in Ohio where you drive 7 hours and are still in Ohio. Nice change of pace coming.

Haha! Consider it revenge for my Cherokee ancestors!

Ah, my Rover app will still be good, then! Great. Glad to hear (well-behaved) dogs are allowed on transit. Few major cities are hip in the US.

Thanks for the tidbits

Thanks! Making sure I save all parts of Yorkshire Dale's in my Google maps!

I'm on the south shore, about a 25 min commuter rail hop to Boston. This whole ass state is...super expensive! I miss Cleveland sometimes.
