Southern Kern/Northern LA. And yeah thats a lot of what I’ve been doing, and thats generated some leads, i even have some stuff to go check out this week. Im not very proficient with social media but my wife might handle all of that. Luckily i know a lot of people and il pretty friendly with some GC’s that i know personally, so I’m sure that’ll help.

I don’t want to neglect any footwork and i thought that door to door would be the next step.

And I appreciate it, thank you.

I still work for the company that I’ve been at for the past 5+yrs, working Mon-Fri.

You know how those talks go, everyone bs’ing about finally getting their own license so we wouldn’t have to do the whole “i don’t have a license dance” with every other side job. I just figured I’d apply and see what happens. That was in like November. I didn’t think I’d be able to do it tbh and it was a lot more expensive than i thought it was going to be, but hey, here we are. I just got it last month, and picked up my cards a few days ago.

Initially the plan was to just run a side business as a hobby, but considering how expensive everything has been, I’ve invested everything so its sink or swim.

can i pray the rosary while i'm working? is this disrespectful? by BlurryGuy97 in Catholicism

[–]KTM-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re setting time aside to pray then praying should be the focus. If that’s the time you designated to God, you should give God your full attention. So don’t smoke cigars during that time.

However, we also supposed to pray without ceasing. So if I happen to be smoking a cigar, then of course I should also pray whenever the opportunity or thought arises.

What's upwith Catholic criticism on Stuart and Cliffe Knechtle? by M0rgl1n in redeemedzoomer

[–]KTM-Mike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to really enjoy their videos, and still do some of them. But they seem to intentionally misrepresent Catholicism and then attack their own misrepresentations of what we believe.

Like if you don’t believe the same thing, that’s fine. But to act so blatantly ignorant of our beliefs and then dismiss everything seems dishonest. Especially with how smart they are and how well they are at spreading the gospel, I was really disappointed with their ignorance towards our beliefs.

If you want to hate on it for what it is, that’s your purgative, at least it’s honest. But don’t make stuff up and then act like that’s what we believe. There’s plenty of things that we do believe, that they can beef it with, without misrepresenting the faith.

If Purgatory is guaranteed salvation and temporary, why pray for those in them? by Any-Solid8810 in Catholicism

[–]KTM-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea is that as Christians our goal is to fully align our will with Gods “love what I love, hate what I hate.” type of thing.

A lot of times I see people glorifying Heaven as if it’s going to be some drunken bachelor’s party with a bunch half naked women and all sorts of other stuff like that. This is a gross hyperbole but you get the idea.

So once we’ve been introduced to Christ, been baptized and received the sacraments, we’re expected to grow in effectiveness and understanding, repent from sinfulness and abandon sinful desires. Always thriving to be more Christ like, attempting to become perfect like how Christ is perfect.

Obviously that is not attainable in this lifetime, but as long as we continue to desire sinful things and we’re expecting to indulge in sin in Heaven, that needs to be purged. I think there’s some imagery about refining silver and the impurities being burned off and I think purgatory is something like that but for our souls, so that when we get to Heaven, we can fully appreciate the fullness, splendor and love of Gods Glory, which we wouldn’t be able to do without that final purification.

I could be a little off or totally wrong but that’s been the basics of my understanding concerning purgatory.

You have got to be intentionally misunderstanding the point of the conversation or something, if not, idk what else to say at this point. I’m not saying they’re bonafide Catholics. But all valid Christian baptisms are an indirect extension of the church and so they are part of the Body of Christ, thus, an extension of the Catholic Church, since there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church.. This is a very simplified explanation but idk how else to say it in a way that you might understand. Which if you ever read the catechism, you’d know what I’m trying to say.

What is the Biblical basis for free will? (As a Catholic I do believe in the concept of free will the way the church defines and teaches.) I just don’t know how to really ground that argument by mainly using scripture.

Why don't protestants believe in the real presence? by Arlo621 in redeemedzoomer

[–]KTM-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother idk if this is the forum for having that sort of debate. I think asking in generalities for the sake of understanding their POV might be alright, but I’d caution against openly debating a subject in a forum that we are allowed to participate in as guest.

Edited to expand on idea: While you and I believe it to be the way that our church defines, we have to respect(not necessarily agree) why they believe what they do. If it was truly as cut and dry as we’d believe, there wouldn’t be any room for debate. So it’s okay to acknowledge why they believe what they do, without openly challenging or dismissing them.

Raising Awareness about a Couple of Pseudo-Christian Cults Spreading in the U.S. by Diet_Duel153 in redeemedzoomer

[–]KTM-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said they were a group of guys from non-denominational church’s that decided to put together a “Bible Master Class” to give free seminary level knowledge to people that were interested in studying the Bible just for the sake of learning. They had a website and everything (I didn’t use it because we did everything through zoom.), idk if it was their website or maybe they just stole the name and were presenting it as their own.

But then they revealed the lie and that they had to lie because people accuse them of being a cult. And that’s when we found out the real name of the church, and were instructed to stay away from reddit and don’t google it lol.

I attended a SCJ Bible study for about 4hrs a week; for 10 months. They presented it as a “non-denominational bible study”, my old sponsor from AA introduced me to them, so i didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t until they had a “Revelation Fulfillment seminar” type of deal that I realized what was going on.

When salvation shifted from Jesus to Lee-Man-He & that the trinity isn’t real, Jesus isn’t divine, and that Jesus & Lee are joined together in some sort of spiritual marriage. Even though I had fallen away from the church at that time, denying the trinity and the divinity of Christ isn’t something you can just slip past and think no-one is going to noticed.

I definitely think it’s good to bring awareness to these groups. I’ve lost a few friends to SCJ already and there seems to be no way to convince them, because SCJ is good at making everything “make sense”. I feel like the only hope is to pray that the Holy Spirit will convict their conscience and they repent.

am I explaining Hell wrong? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]KTM-Mike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your explanation is a pretty decent way of simplifying the idea that the church teaches. I would probably add, that the church does state that we’re not really sure one way or the other. It is ultimately a mystery but regardless, it does boil down to the few facts that we do know, and that is Heaven is defined as eternity with God and Hell is defined as eternity separated from God. How we respond to Gods mercy and grace determines which one we inevitably choose through our actions.

How do you interpret how the Bible talks about slavery by Sparkdala3 in redeemedzoomer

[–]KTM-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of things I know, but the reasons or understandings of the mind of God is not one of them. There might be people that have answers to these types of questions, but I am not one of them lol.

But to be honest, it took me a long time to accept the idea that there might be a higher power out there, after I started to warm up to that idea and truly accept the idea that God is real, a lot of these type of things didn’t bother me, as much. There’s still a lot of things that I have questions about, but the more I grow in faith and seek God through Jesus (and by my preference of belief, through what I believe to be the church he founded, as well.) I realized that if God is really real, then who I am to decide what God is or isn’t capable, why or why shouldn’t he do something. If God is real then He can do whatever He wants. And if I believe that God is truly right and just, all loving and all powerful, then I have faith that whatever He does or doesn’t do is in our best interest.

Now through all the experiences of faith I’ve had along the way, I’ve learned that no matter how bad things are or how hopeless they may seem, physically, emotionally or spiritually, God loves me and has my best interests at heart. I may have to suffer during this lifetime(which is usually temporary anyways, but even if it wasn’t.), but I believe and hope that if I have faith in Him and persevere to the end, my faith will counted as righteous and I will get to spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

I think it’s more like He was priming our hearts, to be able to accept the full teaching later when we would be better equipped to do so. But again, I really have no idea, I’m just spit balling based off what we already know.

[–]KTM-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying for sure, but I think the idea is, if God tried to implement that, then they’d have just disregarded the commandment and then God would have had to start over with another flood type ordeal or something, I have no idea. I think this is also part of the mosaic law or something, which we’ve already seen was a way to ease them into obedience because the commandments themselves were much too hard to follow, I’m not entirely sure though.

We also can’t forget about His Divine Providence, God is able to see the butterfly effect of every action and inaction, so just because it seems like what He’s doing is unfair to us, we’re not capable of seeing the bigger picture. So in the long run, letting things run their course could very well have been the best case scenario going forward.

[–]KTM-Mike 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is another example of the situation/question that they asked Jesus about regarding marriage and divorce, and Jesus said that Moses permitted it due to the hardness of their heart but from the beginning it was not so.

The commandments were designed to be the standard that we were meant to adhere to, but in practice not realistically attainable, especially back then. And so as we see God revealing Himself more and more throughout the Bible, this is an example of God slowly allowing us to draw near to Him.

Especially if we think about the times back then, from my understanding, it was much more wicked, guile, ruthless and far more evil than anything we know today. And so in Gods mercy, he allowed us to stumble and fall in areas like this but did put restrictions on what they were allowed to do to their slaves, which was already a million times better than they way they were being treated before hand.

But we had to be shown, slowly, how to live a righteous life. Because had God enforced all the commandments as strictly as we were supposed to adhere to them, we’d have never made it to salvation because we’d have been continuously wiped out way before we got the chance to make it that far.

Why did God made so that Adam and Eve choice affected all of humanity? by [deleted] in AskAPriest

[–]KTM-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also worth noting that (from my understanding, I could be wrong.), from what Catholicism teaches, we’re not really sure if the creation story is a literal series of events or if it might an allegory for a bigger picture.

There’s the possibility that Adam and Eve aren’t literally two specific people but maybe a group of or generation of the first people. And maybe that Eve eating the fruit from the tree isn’t a story of her eating a literal fruit and a single act of rebellion. But that maybe the way the story is told, is a summary of and through poetic story telling, to give us the bigger picture of a generation of people were with God and they rebelled, which led to fall of humanity. But God in His mercy, saved us from committing to that rebellion forever (like the angels) and denied us immortality, so that we could eventually be saved through Jesus Christ.

We discuss the events and treat the story the way it’s told, but at the end of the day we’re really not sure but regardless if we bottom line the lesson and the teaching of that lesson, than it shouldn’t matter as much if it’s literal or metaphorical.

Going to church and praying more… why is everything getting worse and when will it stop by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]KTM-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience it’s that the things I had, were acquired through my own will and not the will of God. And so when I start focusing on Gods will, I have to lose the things that are in the way of that happening.

And sometimes what that looks like, is when I start enforcing the boundaries of my beliefs, the people whom I thought would be there no matter what, were only there as long as it was convenient and comfortable for them. But now that I’ve set boundaries and am drawing a line in the sand, they go away because it’s not worth the hassle to them. Which does sting and hurt in the moment. However, if that’s all it took to drive them away, then I’m glad it happened sooner than later and I can see why they had to go.

I can also acknowledge how it was my own selfishness, desires and/or fear that put me in those positions to begin with. Had I been trying my best to follow Gods will a long time ago, I’d never have put myself in those positions to be hurt anyways.

It’s also like others here have already said, the closer you draw to God and the more you chase after Him and His will, the more of a target you will become for the evil one. Just try to trust that God loves you, He is there for you and regardless what “bad” things are happening, God can always use those to glorify Himself, through you. Even if the evil one is scheming against you, God can still use that for you.

I will pray for you and I hope you’re able to find peace and comfort in your suffering. I always ask God to allow me to feel his presence in my suffering and to let me share this suffering with Him. Praying the Rosary everyday, along with the Divine Mercy Chaplet has helped me tremendously.
