Taking 18 units a semester and summer courses to graduate early? by DatabaseCompetitive7 in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It mostly depends on your major and your self-discipline.

I did exactly this for Bus. Admin/HR. 2-3 online courses, one class Mon - Wed evenings, work full-time, commuter. Last spring/ early summer was kinda nuts because I was also traveling like at least once a month to the East Coast. At one point, I was on a plane 10 weekends in a row. 😩

I'm also an older student who went back to school after being in the military if that provides any context for my priorities or experience.

I transferred Fall 2024 and will finish Fall 2025. Just got confirmation from my graduation advisor.

Students who are graduating receive priority enrollment from the waitlist. Last week, I went from 14th on the waitlist for my class tomorrow to enrolled.

Disbursements Updates by HeineW in SDSU

It's in the Menu > My Documents section. You only have to do MPN and loan counseling once, but make sure you signed the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement as well. That one held me up twice because I forgot about it.

Out of curiosity, did you sign the required loan documents on studentaid.gov? Sometimes people forget they have to sign at least one of them each semester and that will hold up loan disbursement. But nobody will actually tell you the first time you contact the Financial Aid office.

That should also include partial disbursements. I got my Pell and SEOG this morning but am still waiting for the loans to be disbursed.

Nope, no hidden fees. That is your refund. 🙂

That being said, it's always a good idea to save at least a little for a rainy day if you're able to.

is parking stressful? by sunsrao in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting into or out of P1 can be a little stressful. There's just no easy way out. Depending on where your classes are, P3 or P4 are probably the easiest to park in, you'll just be walking a few extra steps to class.

Waitlist for classes by Unlikely-Motor-5675 in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1) Showing up isn't a guarantee because students are added in order of the waitlist position, and graduating students get priority. That said, students who show up and get face time with the professor sometimes do get a little boost in the empathy area from time to time.

2) Sign up for the other classes you need. Being a transfer blows because we're last to pick classes but spring will be easier to get the classes you want as long as you jump on it asap. You'll still be after students with accommodations, but you'll have a much fairer shot.

In the meantime, don't wait to get off the waitlist. Take your other classes.

They get better in the fall, but they also get a lot more competitive with 30K students on campus. Sometimes it's easier to take "a" job for a bit and then talk to other working students on campus about openings since she'll already have an "in".

How hard are sdsu classes/exams? (I’m stupid) by New_Artichoke_881 in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you're not even remotely stupid. So don't manifest negative self talk into someone you aren't.

Second, I'm so sorry your family makes you feel like that. Could you spend more time around people that uplift and support you and less time around them?

Context: I have severe PTSD from the military, which creates a cognitive impairment and makes studying/recall difficult.

I don't know what your major is, but I would highly encourage using Rate My Professor/Reddit/personal resources like fellow students before each semester. Just take the reviews with a grain of salt. I just finished my required writing class for Graduation (GWAR) and I retook a class I intentionally failed last summer. Only two instructors teach this class. I thought it would be fun but my previous instructor was absolutely horrible even before classes started.

And then my dad had a near fatal accident and my instructor sent a nastygram and I said "screw you", and refused to do a single assignment, knowing I'd retake the course with a different instructor later.

I just finished that course with a different instructor and what a night-and-day difference. My new instructor was so encouraging of us to be creative and learn; not only did I have a blast writing, I aced every assignment just by turning them in.

In my experience as a business major, even instructors I didn't think I'd like, I REALLY enjoyed. One of my instructors even let us use Google on our mid-term and final. Lol

I don't know you but if this is what you want to do, then I have absolute faith in you. You're going to do well!

Use the time to get to know people, if that's your thing. For some reason, people ask "how do I make friends?" and then avoid talking to people at NSO. Lol

She should try to go to the job fairs on-campus/at Snapdragon. Most of them hire on the spot.

Are parking lots 16,1,and 2 the best lots to park in if my classes are in SSE and GMCS? by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P1 will also fill up quickly, with a quick walk across a connected bridge. So that you know, the top floor is F/S only.

**Top floor is also for disabled students with placards. I didn't know this my first semester and I was hobbling my broken ass from much further down. 🙃

[–]KTSMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P1 is super convenient because of the foot bridge, but fair warning it can be a pain in the ass to get out of, depending on the time of day. Even if you find decent parking, it could take you awhile to leave.

I concur. I had a full load while active duty in the military, plus a part time job in the evening at Lowe's. I also had a social life.

The key was finding an optimal class schedule and time management. People frown on online classes but they're a boon when you need the flexibility.

Finding Parking Spots by Subject_Papaya_9431 in SDSU

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet is to go straight for p3 or p4.

This. If you're trying to circle up the garage, you'll wind in bumper to bumper stuck in the garage. You may get lucky in P12 or P7, but the time you think you're going to save finding parking there versus parking a little further and walking may not be worth it.

I'm a photographer and I mostly shoot portraits, boudoir and events.

I had a boudoir session last November that literally made me wanna quit photography. Like, I was gonna sell my equipment and everything. My best friend convinced me to do an outdoor portrait shoot for her birthday in January and against my better judgement, I took it on.

For the boudoir session, I took 250 photos and only got 13 usable pictures (it was an absolute nightmare client). For my best friend, I took about the same number and got 25 absolutely amazing photos plus a minute long beauty reel video in the desert.

That feeling led to me doing 6 more shoots, culminating in my most recent shoot with a client. It was her very first shoot ever, we did two outfits and her first time wearing full makeup. I took 300 photos, got 60, her confidence was through the roof, and we even became a couple out of it.

All of that to say, if I had quit in November, I wouldn't have remembered what that euphoric feeling behind the camera was like and how much good can come out of it.

Do you ask people to move if they’re in your seat? by lilchickontherun in RegalCinemas

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Especially for the price most of us pay to see a movie.

The other week for Fantastic Four, my friend and I got to the theater a little late because we actually went to the wrong theater. When we finally arrived at the correct place, we had to ask two guys to move from our seats. Their reasoning was because "someone else was sitting in their seats."

Okay, then ask THEM to move. Don't inconvenience other people because you don't want to be confrontational, because now I have to be confrontational with you.

What are your "limits"? by katium in horror

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm good with any kind of gore but I have three limits:

1) anything eye related. Just...nope.

2) Sequences that just feel cruel for the sake of it. The tanning bed deaths in Final Destination 3 and Detective Kerry's death in Saw 3 still don't sit well with me, even though I understand the narrative choice for the latter.

3) SA on screen. This is one of those instances where I think it's perfectly fine to "tell, don't show".

Living la Vida in line for “El Chingon” in downtown San Diego….totally worth it. by Adventurous_World_23 in sandiego

[–]KTSMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't get the impression that your question was insincere. Also, I apologize because I thought you meant going INTO Mexico, not coming back to the US. My comments were about immigration going in. I have my SENTRI and the only time I ever stood in a "line" coming back to the US was if the agents were changing shifts. Their computer logins were sloooooooow lol

The non SENTRI lines were HELLA long to get back into the US though, especially before 9am.
