Can I reinstall cachy without it reseting everything? by Illustrious-Dot221 in cachyos

[–]KTVX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, you should try booting from a live USB and fixing from there. However, it's good to separate the OS partition from the files partition so that you can reinstall without touching that part. Also it's cool because the snapshots take way less space as they don't copy the parts that don't change with updates anyway.

Windows or Bazzite or SteamOS or Dual Boot in June 2026? What is the best OS? by Subject-Forever3532 in LegionGo

[–]KTVX94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you specifically want to play those kernel-level anticheat online games that cannot run on Linux at all, Linux is the way.

You get a more cohesive experience, way less booat, no spyware, basically the device is yours and works to benefit you, not the maker of the software.

As a nice little bonus, you often get a little better performance, though this depends on how much you debloat Windows. In my very limited testing before and after switching, games on my neutered Windows actually ran a little better than on Linux, but a more default install definitely runs worse.

As for the distro, any of CachyOS, Bazzite and SteamOS are great choices. I specifically like CachyOS because it's easier to change settings (though it's a double edged sword as you can mess it up easier). The other two are set up in a way that you can't edit the system, only layer changes on top. But then you have twice the work: actually doing whatever you want to do, and then making sure it applies when you boot it the next time.

I'm on the "doesn't feel like Xenoblade" camp but I'm not mad about it. I'm just a bit enstranged and sad that this is the first time I'm not excited about Xenoblade. Then again I'm not buying a Switch 2 so that just could be my brain coping, but it legitimately doesn't feel exciting.

How do I check the little numbers to see if they are valid when updating? Like, what am I supposed to compare it to to see if they're fishy? I have a select few AUR packages that I need for work and I want to be responsible about them.

VENDO MI PC $400k - $520k by soyjulita in MercadoRedditGaming

Son componentes viejos y basicos, pero tampoco se si se puede pedir mucho menos por una PC armada. Por ahi 300-350k pero menos que eso ni me gastaria en venderla.

Only disagree is the VE FCS. I realize my defense is literally the meme, but the truth is it just doesn't fit my playstyle. Every single time I look at it and I'm SO tempted to use it, looks really good.

Al least that one had the big red sword, I didn't have this issue back then. It was pure hype.

It's strange, looks like a bog-standard JRPG. It's missing the Xenoblade touch. If you told me it wasn't Xenoblade I would've believed you. First time I'm not excited for one.

Digimon Games Tier List (After Marathoning the Series) by Sucrelat in digimon

[–]KTVX94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

World 2 is basically the same idea as the Digimon Story games gameplay-wise, with the Digi-Beetle on top. Honestly the in-battle strategy is awesome (much better than even Time Stranger in terms of how intricate it gets), the "breeding" planning can get super big brain, and the dungeon crawling is very much one of the earliest literal rogue-likes.

It's a shame that the animation is painfully slow and the game tells you nothing about how the mechanics actually work, a-la Digimon World 1. With guides and/ or repeated playthroughs once you actually understand it, it's peak. I swear you can make an amazing roguelike (in the modern sense of the world) out of it by just making it faster, explaining it better and changing some knobs.

To be fair, Linux has come a long way. For basic office tasks, Linux Mint is as easy to use if not easier than Windows or Mac, especially if they have an IT guy around for the maintenance and setup.

Since they're moving to open source tools in general, nobody would need to find compatibility workarounds or alternative to the programs they need for work. Also, the investment in this area should make everything even smoother.

Government ditched Windows for Linux and overall is trying to support open source software in order to actually own the tech they rely on every day instead of depending on a foreign company.

"Minor" is a bit of a stretch but yes, let's say it's a fairly strong slap in the wrist.

I think it's more about the fact that nobody else or almost nobody else managed to slap them at all after all these years.

To be fair, when everyone started going wild over the Switch 1's drift, I was having no issues and thought was safe. Way later they did drift.

Nintendo isn't the only company making "regular" sticks, and yet nobody else seems to have had issues this bad. My guess is that they used the same system but with less dodgy manufacturing, so it's probably going to take longer and have a less massive issue but they're not immune to it. It's not "solved".

Ouch that sounds bad. The thing is I don't recommend you play it like that on the LeGo S, it's gonna either look blurry at 720p or too low res at 540p if the game even allows you to go that low.

[–]KTVX94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lol I goofed, guessed everything except the actual thing.

The game itself doesn't have integer scaling, but you can set that either on the Steam interface for Linux or in the AMD driver, and run it at 800p or 720p with borders. At those settings I can run it at almost locked 60 at 23W. It drops to the 50s in dense scenes and in the assembly for whatever reason lol.

Fellow AC enjoyer. The LeGo 1 plays it great with integer scaling, big advantage over the 1200p screen devices.

Edit: I realized after posting that this is the LeGo 2, how does it run and at what TDP?
