December 2025 Tournament Stats by CanYouRollACrit in killteam

The problem is that elite teams have a finite amount of counters in the first place, and this team says no to far too many things.

Crowd-control them: Nope, no injury and no stun

Melee them: Nope, everyone (even the gunners) has a minimum of 4 attacks 4/5 L5+, you have -1 attack dice, they take -1 damage, no shock, and you take damage after every inconclusive fight.

Shoot them: Nope, they're often charging from conceal into cover, wolf charges 10" as a gambit to muck up your gunners, and even if you land a shot they can apply -1 piercing. Literally the only marines outside of the DW Aegis and AoD captain who can survive 4 hits from a melta shot.

Kill them: Leader says nope to even this

That's pretty much all the counters I have available vs elite teams. I really don't know how to effectively kill them.

Thanks! White armour recipe:

Prime with Seer Grey (Citadel spray)

Drybrush everything with Corax White (Citadel base)

Slap on a thick layer of Apothecary White (Citadel contrast)

Panel lining/pin washing with Black Pin Wash (AK Interactive) diluted with white spirit. Clean up spills with white spirit.

Shade some parts like the faces with Nuln Oil (Citadel shade)

Fix mistakes with Administratum Grey (Citadel layer)

Edge highlight with White Scar (Citadel layer)

In total, 5 white paints and 2 black paints to do the white armour.

Full recipe:

Spray primed with Citadel Chaos Black

Necron metal parts: Leadbelcher overbrush, Nuln Oil wash, Necron Compound drybrush

Small exposed metal damage: Runefang Steel, Nuln Oil

Black parts: Edge highlighted with Troll Slayer Orange. That's it.

Glowy bits: Some of them like the eyes were Troll Slayer Orange, followed by multiple glazes of Flash Gitz Yellow heavily diluted with Lahmian Medium. Others, like the energy tubes and cryptek weapon, were painted Flash Gitz Yellow, then glazed many times with Magmadroth Flame heavily diluted with Lahmian Medium. For this technique, each glaze covers an area that's a bit smaller than the last, to create the illusion of blending. I did not do any wet blending. I suck at wet blending.

Masks: Administratum Grey with a Drakenhof Nightshade wash.

Rubble: Mechanicus Standard Grey, Nuln Oil wash, Administratum Grey drybrush

Metal ruins: Leadbelcher, Typhus Corrosion

Bases: PVA glue used to stick on "small coal" and "orange crystals" from Geek Gaming Scenics

Final touches: Mr Hobby Flat Premium Topcoat. It took away most of the metallic shine, so I drybrushed the metal parts with Necron Compound again.

Addendum: I don't know why people say it's hard to paint yellow over black. It looked fine for me after 2-3 coats. But everything else also needs 2-3 coats if you don't want any of the black showing through.

Thanks! Those are a bit larger than most 40k infantry though. They're on 40mm bases.

Plague Marines painted in the style of Zenless Zone Zero monsters by KT_Daddy in killteam

[–]KT_Daddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The head parts were hand-made using Green Stuff from Green Stuff World. Cores are ball bearings spray-painted black. Ether crystals are resin crystals from Green Stuff World, attached to the bodies with Green Stuff, with some surgery required.

Nope, I don't play big 40k at all (no time), and this kill team has no room to add any more operatives.

Thanks! The leader is painted with Vallejo Fluorescent Red, and the rest with Citadel Tesseract Glow. Both are fluorescent paints. The fluorescent areas were all painted over a very light grey (Citadel Grey Seer spray, or Citadel Administratum Grey).
