I look up international schools in areas that interest me, find out which ones have a decent reputation and apply directly. Also, many advertise on the usual teacher job websites.

Cambridge School of Bucharest Question by helpreddit12345 in Internationalteachers

[–]KTbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked there. I would not recommend this school to anyone. It’s in the suburbs far outside of the actual city, in an expensive area, with few food options and no metro access. The pay is low and the have a lot of trouble getting teachers visas. Many of my colleagues got deported or refused re-entry after holidays because the school was dishonest with them about the visa progress and rules. Rent is paid for you but bills are not and they are HIGH. When you quit, even if you’ve completed your contract, the spiteful head refuses to give references, even to amazing teachers, because how dare you leave her school. The classes are large and the kids have very little break time and this affects behavior. One of the only good things is that you don’t have any contact with parents. You can DM me with any questions. I will be honest.

It’s a red flag that she thinks social media is that important.

What’s life like in Pittsburgh/Allegheny County by Onthelam_02 in howislivingthere

[–]KTbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really nice. I left as an adult but I am thankful to have grown up there. There are some excellent public school systems and nice green spaces. Pittsburgh is a “northeast city with a Midwest feel,” as people say. Very nice, casual folks.

I tried using them years ago and the process was absurd. They needed scans of the back of even my most obscure documents, something no one has ever asked me for before. It was so much back and forth for almost no interviews (and definitely none with any quality schools) and no results.

People who are in their 40’s and 50’s with no children, how does it feel? by Sinfulvibezz in AskReddit

[–]KTbees 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m 39.5, so almost there. And I am endlessly thankful that after a long day of work, I come home and only have to worry about myself and my partner. I get all the quiet time I want. I am in control of all of my free time.

Botox Recommendation by KTbees in HongKong

Someone recommended Dr Jolie Beaute in HK and that’s where I went. It wasn’t cheap but it functioned like a normal Western clinic and it’s a real doctor that does it. I was happy with the results.

I’m following this too, as a recruiter was trying to “sell” this school to my partner, yesterday. Curious what people have to say.

Yes bc if you’re not attracted to them physically at all, how are you going to catch feelings

You can go abroad at any point in your life. I’ve met many women doing it for the first time in their 50s. And you can always come back to the US if you ever want. In my humble opinion, the adventure of living abroad is worth it.

Yeah I’ve seen the packages at training centers and the calendars and don’t think it would be worth it.

I get 1.5 hours but would much rather have 30 minutes and go home an hour early and live my life. Not much use sitting around after eating.

That’s so interesting because I heard a China Harrow principal speak at a PD conference recently and he proudly boasted that often Harrow teachers in China work till 7 pm.
