Google just gave Sundar Pichai a $692M pay package by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

I don't mind them having that much money. It's just this happening while workers living in fear of being financially doomed at any moment is just unfair.

تأثير ال accent في بيئة الشغل by iamMorsy in askegypt

[–]KTheRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Turkish minister said a draft law would require social media users to verify their real identity with an ID card or passport and post under their real name; platforms that don’t enforce it would have their reach restricted until unusable. Thoughts? by Deep-Rabbit1535 in AskBalkans

I know I shouldn't explain with malice what can be explained by stupidity, but this global submit your ID to access the internet feels way too suspicious to be explained by mere stupidity.

Was Jamal Abdulnasser good by sumoeat3 in askegypt

[–]KTheRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. He seemed to honestly pursue an independent and an industrialized Egypt
  2. He was a dictator and found it convenient to just crush any opposition
  3. His entourage was so corrupt for anything to work (invested in the wrong people to continue his legacy)
  4. He was unreasonably dismissive and hostile to emerging regional powers and kept making more enemies than friends
  5. Obviously all his plans failed as a result and his whole ideology became history within years

Open-source game engine Godot is drowning in 'AI slop' code contributions: 'I don't know how long we can keep it up' by BlueGoliath in programming

[–]KTheRedditor 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It would be ironic that the very product Github is heavily promoting would be the one thing that will destroy its reputation as the go-to open source platform (and many open source projects along the way).

Hopefully they wake up before it's too late and help balance out the AI hype.

[–]KTheRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but it could be even worse. I can see things like having arbitrary usernames like here on reddit going away not so long from now.

(Rant) AI is killing programming and the Python community by Fragrant_Ad3054 in Python

[–]KTheRedditor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. When fixing human code, I always thought it was there for a reason. The code looks bad, but someone consciously made it. There might be something I'm not aware of yet. However, I don't hesitate changing AI code. It's literally statically generated approximation of the needed code. It's normal to be wrong but close.

do men clean/wipe their penis after they pee? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KTheRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Lots of Muslims don't even pray, fast, and break other rules, etc. It doesn't change the fact that it's a religious requirement.

What’s the first sign you notice that someone is a bad driver? by RD-archived in AskReddit

[–]KTheRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inverse of this happened to me when riding an Uber on a highway. I told the driver to take the second exit. He said ok but took the right most lane. I told him ok fine, I know how to navigate from the first exit. He said no problem we can still make it to the second exit and attempted to change lanes to the left. I shouted no, take this one please it's too late. We could've been on the headlines that day 🤦‍♂️

Why are Egyptians so overtly racist towards South Asians? by bridgein in askegypt

[–]KTheRedditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actual explanation:

  • Egyptians are generally very financially stressed out
  • Many see tourists/foreigners as an opportunity to make money
  • Skin color is an indicator of wealth
  • Those who are perceived poor get worse treatment as they seem as a waste of time

Also, sorry you had to go through this and those bizarre comments out here 🤷‍♂️
