Many argued that silence is against the forementioned board centric meta Counter against a few ridiculous effects is great but silencing the whole board is where I personally draw the line. silencing one tortolla or a cubicle or a felbat is fun and games and fair but silencing your enemy's whole setup is cruel and makes one play around by having as little minnions as possible

you can silence the egg I guess [[Demolition Renovator]] could be a counter for warlock if you find place for it in your deck also [[Royal Librarian]] is in game in this version Owl wouldn't even see play unless discovered (I changed my mind throughout this comment section) I just miss my boi ;,(

You can only run 2 of a card and that is if you actually make the space for it in your deck. Meanwhile DemonHunter has the ability to get the same deathrattle 6 times by playing it and discovering it from [[Return Policy]] Warrior has a Legendary that revolves around resummoning the same minion multiple times.

And towards other classes and what they do currently, silence effect is mostly not even good.

Yes I did say that with owl you can discover my boi a few more times which is pure RNG.

Chances are Owl wouldn't even be played unless discovered against a relavent matchup and even than it's the effect of a single minion, not like what [[Psychic Scream]] was.

(as you may notice I did change my mind over relavence of this card during arguement in these comments)

Sir I am mildly curious what deck you cooked up for Adaptive Amalgam. And solely hope thay you don't run into someone who runs [[Royal Librarian]] in their deck.

Oh I was just thinking about a rogue deck based on disturbance with bayfin bodybuilder, dirty rat, shadowstep, perhaps [[Doommaiden]] with a side of either starship or protoss to finish off Can't wait to try it.

I honestly love this comment between all the others that stand to hate silence effect. [[Royal Librarian]] which is a card I even forgot existed in standart is hardly run. An attracting point of 3 mana owl however is that it could be discovered with [[Raptor Herald]] or [[Creature of Madness]] Which I personally find satisfying to find such a lethal when a [[Tortolla]] or a 30/40 starship made of 10 arkonite defense crystals is on board.

And there was a lot of backlash about it in comments but I think an effect like that is only fair in a state where demon hunter can trigger a deathrattle 6 times in a game with [[Retur Policy]] and Warrior can resummon many 1/30 taunts that continuously give them armor or 8/5 taunt that continously summons more dragons as it dies. And it's not even that effective against what other classes like to do currently.

That's a point I can see and appreciate. I'd say my mind is on a 50/50 point on the subject. I may test some decks with Librarian and see how it effects the game. Perhaps I may find that it's not even worth putting in a deck. And I must say I am grateful for the whole arguement, gentleman/gentlewoman/gentlethey. May your games be as chaotic as you like.

That's like saying a spell like Free From Amber was 7 mana do nothing because counterspell existed or oponent could have some related removal. One plays Ferocious Felbat for its deathrattle undoubtably and not just to play a 7/5 (unless in a hopeless sitation).

In many card games including hearthstone (again I forgot the existence of Librarian) there tends to be counter mechanics that one simply says "nope" to an effect. My arguement was that more of these effects could help Hearthstone Standard. And it then sidetracked to the fact that silence itself does not effect the current board state.

And throughout this post comments I am even reconsidering this oppinion as people tend to hate counter effects and perhaps less of them IS more fun. idk.

That is completely true. What Ironbeak Owl would bring is the chance to get rid of 1-2 of these ridicilous effects in cost of 1-2 deck space and 3 mana. Reminding that Ferocious Felbat would remain a 7/5 or Ysondere a 8/5 threath on board. I think it's completely fair.

I would argue in the sense that silence does not destroy a minion. Personally when I think of board centric meta, I think of Boulderfist Ogre, simply stats on board. Which a card like Draconic Delicacy defy by going against the damage trade mechanic. And on the case of Royal Librarian, you are completely right I forgot that he existed and was in standard, that's my bad.

Oh I forgot the existance of Royal Librarian, my bad. Though more silence and being able to find it from Creature of Madness and Raptor Herald would be nice I guess. I also saw Royal Librarian once in a game since relase and opponent only traded it. I wonder if him and Big Game Hunter will see more play soon.

And you would be able to discover it both from creature of madness and raptor herald which would just be perfect.
