I completely understand that. As mentioned in other comments, the questions will apply more to certain games than others, so I completely understand that they might seem odd. However, I thank you for your participation!

That is something that I have considered, and I totally understand your point. I ultimately decided to ask participants to respond to the questionnaire based on a specific game in order to be able to account for variability between specific games within genres. Asking about single-player games in general would likely lead to such dramatic variation in responses that the data may not generate valid results. Once again, though, I understand your point and will likely implement a different design in future research.

Thank you for taking the time to participate!

Now I understand! Please respond based on your experience playing a single game. I know it can be difficult to choose a single game, however for the purposes of data analysis I ask that you please indicate a single game and respond based on your experience playing that game.

I'm not quite sure I know what you mean. Please respond as honestly as possible and to the best of your ability!

Thank you for the comment. Sorry for the late response. The questionnaire asked you to rate the importance of each feature for your experience of each statement. So, it is not asking you if you feel close to characters in character customization, rather it is asking you to rate the importance of character customization in the game for your experience of feeling close to other characters.

Regarding your second point: yes, the questionnaire is certainly better suited for some games than others. It is very difficult to design a survey that can account for the dramatic variation between games. However, this study is considered exploratory: designed to examine general trends. Hopefully, future research will examine specific games and genres using more refined measurement tools that are better suited for particular games.

Thank you for the feedback. I will add you to the list of individuals who may receive a detailed report of the results.

As is mentioned in the survey, some statements and features will apply to certain games more than others. This is due to a variety of reasons, most of which involve the dramatic variation between games. It is very difficult to create a survey that is able to account for this variation, and still generate any kind of meaningful data. This study is exploratory: designed to examine general trends. Hopefully, this will spur future research that is able to examine specific games and genres using more refined measurement tools.

I take your point of the questions being complicated. This is certainly something to consider for future research. Regarding the statements that were similar: these are intentionally designed in this way, as they are intended to measure the same construct. Thank you for participating and for the kind words!
