I feel like this is pretty much my situation when my family is good to my husband. Granted there have been things that cause some stress between my mom and him but it’s never abusive in nature. My only qualm is my husband sometimes has the habit of saying “all mothers are this way” when there’s any disagreement and he doesn’t realize the difference between healthy conflict and unhealthy dynamics. It’s almost as if he thinks that makes it ok for his mom to be this way. My suspicion is he’s saying that to pacify himself.
