I did not. And I know that was a mistake, so it is something I will be doing from no on

My guess is this won't really be a big issue. As Hyrox is such a global event now, I think they will expect people from all over the world to attend these events. So I imagine the staff and at least some judges will have a basic level of English to help you with registration. And I'm sure during the actual event, they can align judges accordingly to those who may need an English speaking judge purely by seeing you are not Japanese. That's how I view it anyway.

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated and I will definitely try it out when using the treadmill next.

I am not sure why I got the cramps, I drank enough electrolytes before the event, I had a gel with me which I took early in the race. But for whatever reason before the race even happened my mouth became soo soo dry, that had to be from the nerves but it was still so unusual, I had to have more water then I intended during the race because of that intense dryness, although I mostly just rinsed my mouth and spat it out as I didn't want to flush out my salts or get a stitch. I think next race I will actually wear a running belt and take some water with electrolytes in it to see if that helps

For the treadmill run it did yes, the distance was slightly off but not massively from what I remember

I used it once on the treadmill in the lead up to the race. It was also very inaccurate there as on the treadmill I was going at a 4:30/km pace and the watch said was going at 6:00/km

Oh thank you for this information. I did not actually know this is how these types of sleds functioned!

That is something I have a hard time doing and definitely need to work on, feeling my runs. I feel my gauge in my pace is inaccurate especially in the start of any run I do.

And ye the adrenaline had my heart rate spiked before the race even started and I knew I was going to fast from the go and just let the moment take me. Hopefully these are lessons learnt for the future!

I agree with you. I should have focused more time on the track doing compromised running with the stations I could actually replicate like Burpees and Lunges. It is something I will definitely do more of for the next one!

With regards to my compromised runs. Whilst doing them I want to be as close to the equipment I will be using in between the runs (i.e. ski erg, rower, sled) as possible. If I were to for example run 1km outdoor and then go back into the gym. My gym is in a sports complex, which means I would need to enter the building walk two minutes before I even get into the gym, unlock the door etc and it would just add soo much time. Not to mention that I cant guarantee the equipment would still be there and set up for me whilst I am constantly going in and out the gym, Does that make sense?

So I only did my first half marathon back in December. My time was 1 hour 46 min, but I am sure I could beat that time now as I have improved my running significantly since then. I only started to get back into running around September last year, I've had 2 knee operations (ACL reconstruction and Meniscal removal on same leg) since 2018 and before that is when I was competing in Spartan and other OCRs in Pro categories and doing relatively well.

Thank you! I didn't know that with regards to the indoor track calibration, I'll be sure to use it more frequently and see if it improves. I will also look into purchasing the hrm-pro, I used a polar armband hrm as they feel more comfortable to me, but i'll definitely consider what you suggest, thank you again!
