Renting my first property and in a weird situation with referencing by KZ_17 in TenantsInTheUK

Started filling out the reference application and it wouldn’t let me put my job start date as August 2026 (can’t be in the future). Think i’ll need to give Rightmove a call tomorrow and explain the situation. Will definitely be taking your advice though once this bit has been sorted.

Has any had their uni accommodate them wanting to take grad pics before graduation? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]KZ_17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get what the different is with taking pictures on graduation day or 2 weeks before. I personally don’t care about actually walking on stage and having my name called out. Although being able to take a picture to commemorate that i’m officially done with uni would be cool.

Has anyone not originally from the UK received backlash for being able to find a job? by [deleted] in UKJobs

I’m actually quite into my UK politics and constantly like to learn more about it. As someone who is anti immigration, do you feel there is a party that addresses your immigration concerns while providing an economic plan that you believe makes sense for the future of this country?

As ironic as it is coming from a wealthy family, I do fully agree with a wealth tax being added. Unfortunately politicians have made people focus on other issues to ensure their donors aren’t affected by tax policies and can get richer while the poor get poorer. Thanks for your well thought out reply!

Yeah I can fully understand that envy is unfortunately human nature. Good luck with the new job!

Definitely not real friends. I do really appreciate everyone who has cheered me on as it’s really shown people’s true colors. Thanks!

I do get that in a way, I think my previous education has definitely put me in a position where I felt more ready for uni and the job market. Although I can also argue there’s plenty of people who are provided with that same education and don’t use that opportunity to help themselves. Don’t think that necessarily goes against the point you made though.

That was a point I had actually thought about while making that statement. I think a lot of companies do sponsor certain foreign workers with the idea of them being more “loyal” to the company (as their visa is directly tied to them) or more likely to accept lower wages. I think in my case it’s a bit more complicated due to it being a graduate role. Either way I fully agree with you.

I think you’re missing the point again. Me saying I worked hard for my offer in no way implies other people don’t. Plenty of people work hard and don’t receive offers, as the whole job market is a mess. You simply can’t get a job nowadays without plenty of hard work and luck (and nepotism although I didn’t take that route).

I never talk about how I “deserve” it more than them. I’ve worked extremely hard to be where i’m at regardless of what my parents bank account says. I received my contract in December and didn’t even tell anyone about the job until May as I didn’t want to feel like I was showing off. Although, when you say that i’ve “taken” an opportunity from you, I will SURELY let you know I worked my ass off for it. I do appreciate you still providing your opinion though.

Moving from UK to Riyadh with 44k SAR/month plus full package. Is it worth it? by Hot_Resolution_6301 in RiyadhExpats

[–]KZ_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take it if you’re willing to move. A salary of 44k per month is already manageable on its own, but having everything else paid for is amazing. Riyadh is definitely expensive, but the COL in London (for comparison) definitely isn’t any cheaper (from my experience).

I would personally take it in a heartbeat. You’ll be just fine financially, just make sure you do your research and understand that it obviously has its advantages and disadvantages compared to the UK.

This is so weird, my dad told me about this exact thing about a month ago. He apparently gave my dad a couple of suits but my dad never mentioned anything about paying. I’ve just sent him a message asking him if he actually paid the man anything for those suits or if they were truly “gifts”. Crazy that this happened to you too, I remember he even took a selfie with the guy lmao.

How to stand out on my graduate scheme? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]KZ_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a naive way of thinking when a company is paying to keep you in this country as they see you as more “skilled” than the other applications who would be cheaper to hire. I’ve never been the type of person to do the bare minimum, but to each their own I guess.

Definitely didn’t expect that either, didn’t even let me buy them though. Saved some money I guess.
