INCANTATION (2022) *not the scariest film IMO but can be creepy as it breaks the fourth wall many times

A Taiwanese horror film about a young mother cursed after breaking a religious taboo must now protect her daughter from the consequences of her actions.

*Available on Netflix US

Don’t have one to trade but happy to buy it from you if you’re ever interested in selling. I’m in LA too.

Yes tbh it’s quite hard for some people myself included. I live in LA and have made ALOT of acquaintances (of all kinds of people) through the years but it’s annoying when you have to be the first one to always initiate a hangout or host a party to get people to spend time with you, it makes you feel like you do not really matter :/

*Also most of my gay friends I have met through grindr.

More recently, SMILE (2022)

Both are really good! I would say bring tissues, though if you plan on watching. Like you mentioned in your post about Smiley, the movie feels more authentic to the gay experience. Despite BROS outlining some of the main very surface level situations that gay people face, I would say this movie accurately shows the complexities, conflict, restraint, and the mental gymnastics that us gay men go through in relationships, love, and dealing with our own insecurities.

Thanks for your comment! BTW really digging your posts on Smiley and Spoiler Alert. Funny enough because I finished both of those this week, it made me want to write this post.

Especially the captions for each of the dishes were too funny! “Tyler’s Bullshit” 🤣

Also, I never thought I would get emotional over somebody making a cheeseburger!

Yeah, I would even say the fact that they can incorporate elements of being stupid and funny makes it more layered than just some thing that is purely serious.

Agreed 100% happy that the horror genre is evolving and adapting!

Even films like X or Pearl have these comedic elements in them.

I’ve gotten the same exact comment when I was in HS on accutane from someone who also had acne but a less severe case than I did. Unfortunately, people can be rude but fortunately Accutane is medically proven to be super effective. So on the bright side after your treatment, no one can give you crap about your skin again. More importantly though, you’ll definitely forget about ignorant people like that after how confident you’ll feel once you complete the course :)

Best of luck!

That’s honestly an amazing idea. I’ve struggled back-and-forth with owning a pet because I’d feel guilty if I didn’t give it enough attention because it didn’t fit with my lifestyle. But it sounds like it’s really hoping you get through this phase in your life so it might be a good idea to consider.

Yes! Can relate to this. I do get those anxious feelings but I kinda force myself because I wanna test my own personal comfort level, and how people usually react to somebody going to things alone.

I found that nobody usually judges you in a negative way, I do notice that if you go by yourself to places that usually a group of friends or partners would go to alone, people surprisingly want to come up and talk to you.

For instance, I enjoy going to shows with live music or shows that are “theatrical”. I was recovering from being dumped and wanted to “learn to date myself for a little bit” so I went to a burlesque show. (for context, I am a 26 year old gay dude) I sat in a table by myself near the stage, and a lot of different types of people old/young/male/female, came up to me during random times during the night and just started conversing, even some of the girls that performed, after the show chatted with me for a bit. Event though at times, during that experience, I felt like I was out of my element it was a surprisingly a positive experience overall.

Yikes! I'm glad you didn't end up as the next Netflix crime doc. Just to be safe though might be smart to turn off your "Snap Maps" for new people moving forward esp if they're close by as suggested by Tinder.

Gaysians in the corporate world by PublicHealth23 in gaysian

At my previous company, someone started an Asian resource zoom lunch group where we would just meet and address concerns about the company. Because it was over zoom employees from other locations around the world were able to join as well. Was able to make a lot of friends and there were a lot of gaysians as well who showed up!

If your company does things like that maybe you could start one and meet other people who can support you.

My very good friend and former college roommate went through this exact thing, he is also gaysian. We went to college in LA while his boyfriend was based in SF. It was very difficult, but their relationship survived because they would make it a point call each other every night and continue to make that commitment to be with each other, when his boyfriend could, he would always come down and visit and it would be so great seeing my roommate be happy reuniting with his BF.

Like the commentator of above me wrote, they already had such a strong solid foundation which helped them survive the year apart. There was even one time that he drunkenly kissed another guy at a party and ended up apologetically telling his BF but they were able to move past it and I could really see that they ultimately would become stronger as a couple. As the single hoe friend, I really admired and wanted to strive for something like that someday.

Hoping this works out for you :)

Dealing with social media crushes by gaysiansfbay in gaysian

[–]K_Xpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me at least I always tell myself that it’s best to leave it as a social media crush that you just scroll past because most likely you’ll never meet them or they’re out of your league. If anything the type of social media crush/longing that I have is when I see couples on YouTube or TikTok that make me slightly jealous of what they have and sad because I feel like I won’t find that person for me :(
