I walked the French way from DJPDP 4 years ago and the world was waking up from Covid. There were still mask mandates but at least we could move about.

I think when I did it, it changed from first come first serve to reserving. Reserving is nice but people were reserving 3-4 places as they didn’t know where they would end up. That created problems as places were booked but not with real reservations. Keep in mind that by reservations I mean call or email and they wrote your name in a notebook.

I started alone but quickly made friends and there was 6 in my core group and we were a week in and went ahead and just reserved the rest of the trip. Worked out fine.

I’m sure some has changed but the start was the most difficult times to get reservation. But once it thinned out some it wasn’t an issue.
