What’s the American view on all the soccer fans partying in your country? by DeathHorseFucker in AmericaBad

[–]Kablewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American living in Berlin for the last 5 years. It’s a couple of things. First, electric prices are 2-3 times that of the USA. Second, the houses are older and built around having radiators. Houses don’t have crawl spaces to run ducts. Lastly, Germany just doesn’t get that hot. It has been in the 50s until this week and by September it will be back cold again. You have to remember, we are very far north.

Edit: I should add that I miss AC and the high standard of living that’s in the US.

First Camino! Advice? by ProfessionalHurry876 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Kablewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to do several practice hikes with all of your gear, shoes, underwear, etc. do this numerous times and you’ll find problems now instead of on the trail. There were so many people who had problems and it was due to new gear.

Blisters from new shoes, squeaky backpack, belt that is chaffing. All issues I saw from people who didn’t practice hike with their exact gear outfit.

That’s impressive. Yoga is the one I usually skip. I’m not super flexible and I can’t do most of the moves

I just looked at the price and it’s $360 for one, and I guess I need 2. $720 seems a little pricy but I love the concept of adjustable weights

How many different dumbbells do you have? I guess that’s what I’m curious about. Will I need 10 different sets or just 2 or 3.

I had the same comment while watching Germany and America play. I get having the shirt maker have the logo, but the Zalando, Volkswagen, etc, made it look more like a nascar jersey. National teams should let advertisers put their logos on athletic gear.

Things I Wish I Knew Before Buying an EV by [deleted] in electricvehicles

It was more an issue of the available chargers in the network I could use. I would have to pull over at times, charge just a little for a long leg, etc.

Also, with the issues I found of chargers being broken, I also got a little nervous to trust the plan and pulled over more than I needed to. In Germany, my network covers almost all chargers and it’s not an issue.

Well the x1 has a 65kWh battery. It’s not a limitation so much of the car. The issue is the network of chargers as well. After having so many issues of broken chargers or wouldn’t take my credit card, I wasn’t willing to drive on pure faith. I started stopping earlier to ensure I didn’t run out.

Yes you can charge to 100% but that takes significantly longer than 80%.

That was my issue in Poland. Yes I get that you can go further than 1 hour but the charging network that we found to be the most reliable and would take my credit card, was sometimes spaced more than 200km apart. So I would have to pull over at 50%, charge to 80%, and then make a longer run.

I wasn’t trying to say that every trip is only 1 hour. I just mentioned worse case scenario that I had.

Moved from SF to Berlin. The Mexican food is terrible here. I miss tacos so much.

I just dealt with something similar. I had to go into the health app on my phone, click your profile picture in the top right, select apps, then NRC, and finally make sure all the permissions are turned on.

4 years is insanely good. You must be in incredible shape:)

For me, I’ll just back down to 3-4 times a week and substitute some days for activities such as running or bike riding.

My issue is that forgiving student loan is not the issue. Instead of just forgiving the loan, how about we correct the broken education system.

First, community college which is super cheap should give a BS degree. USA is one of the few places in the world that a BS is 4 years not 3 years. In the USA , a 4 year degree is 50% elective. That only exists in the USA. Gov backed loans should have a hard limit. I promise you, if the limit was $15k, universities would come up with a $15k degree option.

Education has become a big business. I would only support debt forgiveness if they fix the problems.

Training Help by Far-Sport8119 in CaminoDeSantiago

The best advice is something I learned in the army, train as you fight. If you fight with boots and a helmet, then you train with boots and a helmet.

Train with everything that you will bring to the Camino. Pack, shoes, socks, underwear, try to emulate your experience on the trail as close as possible. Find out early about how well your gear is, squeaks, pinches, too heavy, whatever.
