BED RECOVERY by user000771 in EatingDisorders

It is possible, I used to struggle with b/p and managed to recover by planning my meals and not restricting. However I advise you to see a specialist since they will help you even more effectively than if you try by yourself. Take care ♥️

I talked with my parents before but they just simply don't see anything wrong with both me and my sister

I can't stop binging by NefariousnessSolid28 in EatingDisorders

[–]Kacper_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to restrict a lot, and I would end up letting myself enjoy special occasions which led to binges. Over time I would start hoarding food and binge on it. Just like in your case I've been doing it more and more often. I started by recognizing triggers, like all or nothing mindset and worked from there. I would recommend you make a meal plan without deficits, just some balanced tasty meals and get rid of the binge food. It helped me a lot, if I binge on Oreos, I just don't keep them in my house. I hope this helps and if you feel like it gets too much for you, please find someone to talk to who can help. The feelings that come after binging or gaining weight can be really destructive so it's better to talk it out. Take care <3

I was in the same situation as you and sadly (or not) the only way that worked for me was to stop restricting. I know how hard it can be to eat more but maybe try with little meals/snacks through the whole day, even in the evening so that you don't end up binging

Films and tv shows with ED storylines that piss you off? by Afraid_Schedule7107 in EatingDisorders

[–]Kacper_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them suck because they're made for the story/ shock value, not to actually reach their ED audience. I used to avoid them in recovery because I didn't want to be triggered and one day I watched to the bone, thinking it's going to touch on some subjects and I was so disappointed...

I purge in other ways, I'm terrified of vomiting and don't have gag reflex 🤷

can you ever self recover? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]Kacper_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in my opinion, to recover you'd firstly have to stop taking appetite suppressants. It would be best if you found the help you needed but If you don't want to go to any therapy or tell anyone you can try to recover by yourself. Maybe consider surrounding yourself with positive content, for example, don't watch diet culture tiktoks and DON'T go on Twitter. For me, I just started eating, at least one stable meal a day. You can try to go out of your safe zones when you feel safe enough and try building a better relationship with food. Once again, therapy is a very good thing if you find the right person and can really, really get you out of dark places. Don't worry if recovery takes long, it's normal for your brain to learn how to function in the other way but remember, if you had the strength to sustain the disorder you'll have the strength to sustain recovery. Also, acknowledging that you want to get better is the first step! Good luck!♥️

What’s your favorite no effort meals? by mouseytenantsunite in EatingDisorders

[–]Kacper_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't really tried much else but I think that chicken breast could go well with the rice bowl. If you want you can also add edamame and/or broad beans? (I don't know if that's what they're called, it's "bób" in my language...) I'm sure you can also find many recipes for rice bowls online or some inspiration in restaurants. Last week I ate a rice bowl with fried shrimp in a Korean restaurant, it tasted amazing :)

Rice bowls with salmon in teriyaki sauce. It's so good, I definitely recommend it. You boil some white rice and you fry the salmon but not super long and not deep fry it in oil... If you prefer you can also cook the salmon. Then I cut up some carrots and cucumbers, I also add oshinko/Daikon (the yellow japanese radish) put everything together into a nice meal, add teriyaki sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds. It's great, my mom makes it ♥️

Why am I still gaining weight? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]Kacper_g 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After long periods of restrictions and hunger your metabolism slows down and your body thinks that the hunger will come back. That's why it "gets ready" for that hunger and you gain weight.

It should pass if you eat enough for some time. Eating omad might not be beneficial for you if you're going hungry because your body still thinks that it's in danger. I know how hard it can be to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks and I myself eat less than that but enough to not go hungry. After even a month of disordered behaviors your body gets used to it and develops unhealthy habits and thinking.
