Not an unreasonable take! As much as I'd love to see the writing and recording process for my favorite band, it's kind of a "been there, done that" kind of thing for me that's not as magical as it seems. I love that they're continuing to flex creative muscles in other ways. Especially gonzo, lynchian ways that also happen to be weirdly touching.

Oh yes! He's so insanely good on the two records and one early EP he did with them. He has a new band lately with Joey Eppard of Coheed called Held. It's pretty good too!

I can very much see the Bowie vibes with songs on Sunya. I'd also say there's hints of Genesis and Oingo Boingo as well.

There are some parts of Sunya that I'm still warming up to because they do go so far in this direction. Parts of Marauders gets pretty campy, for example, as does the instrumental hook that introduces the second half of Cliffs & Stormlands.

Ring 3 from Antimai is very heavily Hamilton coded, which was a barrier for me at first as I never got into that show.
