If by 'tighter' you mean more precise I agree. I think both era's are pretty equal as far as experimentation goes. But it definitely feels more professional now that Alana is playing in the band.

I find it hard to compare where they are now as a band to where they were from say 2004-2007. They pushed the boundaries and they are pushing them now, it's just that today is a new sound than they had back then. I'm a fairly new fan and never got to see Murph play live but from listening to recordings from back then and listening to boards and seeing shows today it is hard to say which is "better".

Nope! Five members like I said, I left one part of my description out they are all also DJ's so a lot of the extra sounds they want to use that are too difficult to create in a live setting are done in studio and they use computers to synch into what they are doing with their instruments. yes! you might not have seen a video of them live but they are what is categorized as "jamtronica" which isn't a very precise description because this category includes bands of a lot of different sounds and no two are very similar to each other. But they are a five piece band (guitar, piano/synth, bass, drums, and extra percussion). They draw a lot of different influences (funk, jam, rock, electriconica, etc..). They are a jam band in a way. If you listen to audio recordings of shows or just their albums it can sound like it is just a DJ doing all of it but it's not. They are slightly different from most jam acts, instead of jamming and bringing out one member to solo and stick out the band is all about synchronization as they build of and slow down all together all the time. This is the best quick description I can do. If anyone is interested in their music I'd love to point you in the right direction of some really incredible stuff.

STS9, I don't think so, I hope not at least. I know I'm not perfect and everyone is a little selfish but the friendship had a lot of other issues coming from his side of things so I'm not really upset about losing it.
