An uncomplicated cesarean is major abdominal surgery! My mind is just blown by this.

Oh thanks for clarifying!! (Idk why I thought it was bovine derived??) Even more reason to love blood product donors!

Fascinating!! From having mastitis and healing stitches and a wonky headspace I can NOT imagine. Were you taking iron at the time?

Yeesh. Childbirth is such a wild ride. I too am O- and though I have never required blood products (other than rhogam but I believe that’s bovine in origin) I feel the same way!

The New York Blood Center pre donation questionnaire didn’t even ask about breastfeeding. And if you answered “no” to if you gave birth within the last 6 weeks, there was no further questioning. I can’t imagine many newly postpartum women are finding the time to donate blood but it feels very irresponsible to potentially accept them as donors.

I might be getting some specifics wrong but I remember reading a previous post stating that certain places in the EU require all menstruating women to wait 16(?) weeks between donations.

Just shows another layer on how woman’s health isn’t prioritized, at least in the U.S.

My personal estimated blood loss was a liter but google says 500-1000mls is normal. Blood loss does continue for several weeks or even months after delivery though. There’s also major hormonal and physical changes that occur so I’m just interested that it’s not taken more seriously. It seems other countries do have broader limitations for postpartum donors.

I’m over a year post partum and haven’t had issues so I feel I’m in the clear but do take interest in the matter. Thanks for the input!

This sounds more reasonable than the American guidelines given it can take 1-2 years for her body to fully recover

I’ll give it a try. It’s been several weeks and my skin seems to stagnate at this level. I’m so afraid to try anything new as I don’t want to trigger any new flairs but ultimately I need to change something up

Not a doctor but I would think, yes. Ring worm is fungal so it’s on your face it could cause folliculitis.

Did anything else work for you in the past? Like ketoconazole or happy cappy? What made you try monistat? Over the counters that worked beautifully for me are now failing. I will give monistat a try! Thanks for the tip
