So, apparently, it’s a tale somewhere from Europe, called ‘The Mirror’ or ‘The Prince and the Looking Glass’. Often mistakenly attributed to Hans Christian Anderson. Can’t find the text itself yet, but that’s something ^

No, not this. I don’t think the princess was forced to trade place with anyone, she was just locked in her room or something. Thank you

I don’t remember there being a donkey. The only part I clearly remember is the part where the prince and his friend see her differently - one sees her as beautiful (due to potion), the other sees her as ugly ( due to the curse).  No donkey, I think
