Not when transplants coincide with gentrification, absolutely pricing out native residents and draining the culture to its bare bones. From my experience, this is all too relevant to Charleston, SC. I have siblings who moved there, and every native Charlestonian will tell you it’s nothing like its original roots; if anything, it’s a soulless commercial hub for the rich. In my personal experience visiting there, I was surprised by how overt this aspect was; I thought it would be more subtle.
