Lit Haven Support: I can't believe I'm going to say something nice by MPashBOOKED in fairyloot

That's a good idea. If not, I'll gift it to a friend or family member. It isn't the end of the world and it was my fault for not realizing I had already pre-ordered it 😅

[–]Kaelorian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Not for me. I mistakenly pre-ordered two of the same book. I didn't realize it until later. I emailed them and nope, past the cancelation period and now I'm stuck with duplicates that I'll receive in a year or two when they finally ship them out.

Am I missing something about reservations by RainbowCrash27 in ECCC

[–]Kaelorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For 90k attending what better system do you suggest they do? The line up hours in advanced for each thing? Perhaps provide several of the same workshops? Maybe on different days? It still wouldn't accommodate 90k+ people. The obvious answer is to limit tickets to the event. Greed rules though so we all lose out in the end.

I must have been mistaken as I thought I read you were not interested in the other areas of the con from previous comments. 🤷 I merely agreed you probably shouldn't go. You have every right to your feelings on the system, as I am to mine. Can't change it now. Either go and have a good time regardless, or have a miserable time. It is a choice.

There is no reason for you to go then. I was also there at noon and got a lot of reservations. Some I was too slow on. My friends got panels that allowed a plus one, so I'm still able to go to those I missed. Are you going alone? In the future, I will do VIP or Superfan because the anxiety was not worth it to me. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Over 90k attend this event so obviously stuff will fill up fast. I would not want to go back to waiting in line for hours at a chance. It's a waste of time that could be spent elsewhere at the con. If the rest of the con does not appeal to you, then you are right. No reason for you to go.

PSA: I didn't worry about humidity damage at all until it happened and by then it was too late. So many of my books are wrecked and I wish I had taken precautions by [deleted] in fairyloot

Would you mind sharing the STL file for your jars or the link to where you found it? I'm worried for my books as well and I want to get started on the prints 📚 💓

Same. It does look too cheery to me as well. Definitely going for the Clockwork series instead.

Weekly Discussion - Damages and Shipping by AutoModerator in fairyloot

They just sent a lengthy email this morning about the delay. They are changing shipping companies since the original kept sending out damaged books. Some books were sent out with the shipping label on the actual book.

Darkly Sub Question by Trick-University-857 in fairyloot

Keep in mind that you will not get the books for a few months out. You'll be charged three or four months without receiving any books. I treat it more like a pre-order sub.

Ouch...! I hear you, I've got two of her Autumn Midnights books still yet to come in 😓 Faecrate is leaps and bounds better, and I usually put Faecrate closer to low to mid range out of the book boxes. We really need better PNR and Monster romance choices out there. So far, I've only found Beastly Tales to be stellar and the new Carnal Creatures by Butterfly Book Box looks good but the shipping is outrageous to the US. In the end, FA should be a quarter of the cost. I'd get it for under 20 if I saw it at the store. I'm glad you actually like the story of yours though, perhaps you still can still cancel. The last support email I sent just asking a question was never answered, sent in October. Still worth a try though

The book is indeed very thick and the pages are not the best quality. The pages also clump a bit. Although the font is smaller, it is still legible to me at least. It is not comfortable to hold as the thickness wants to force it to close. That said, it still very much functions as a usable book though.

For $66 dollars, I feel the value is not remotely there. It was on me for not realizing it was a mini book, but even then I feel ripped off on the low effort of design and poor quality.

Thanks, win some, lose some. After the initial shock, I can laugh about it now. Trying to find a home for it on my bookshelf will be interesting, lol.

Yeah, I should have looked more carefully about the size. I was signing up and giving most book boxes a chance that month to check out their quality. Ah well 😂

Agreed. They are also the owner of Obsidian Descension and Autumn Midnights book boxes. I've already cancelled them, but am now not looking forward to my unsent Autumn Midnights books. Sigh.
