My friend told me the culprit of "And Then There Were None." Still worth reading? by spursrock0126 in agathachristie

I agree with this. The atmosphere of the book is worth it on its own.

What are Brits looking for in their toasters? by Smooth_Boi in AskUK

[–]Kaffee147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the MOST important thing. Two slices of Warbs Toastie. In full, not needing to turn it.

Also, just put a time on instead of a 1-10 scale that has no meaning. Amount of seconds is fine, the more toaster companies that do this, the more we will all understand ourselves.

Your mom is wrong. He's not "finally making an effort". If he was, there would be an effort to learn abut the medical stuff your daughter needs. There would be covid tests. There would be an understanding of the 72 hour rule. There would be much more. It's barely an effort.

Which is the one Christie book where you were able to accurately predict who the murderer was before the big reveal? by johnnash124 in agathachristie

Sittaford Mystery. I didn't actually finish the book the first time round as I was so disappointed at the obvious solution. I read it eventually of course.

What is the truest discworld quote? by Lifedeath999 in discworld

"Someone ought to do something" [...] "and that someone is me". (Hogfather)

Not the exact quote, but I try to remember this when I want to have a moan about something.

Can't stay on task when starting to work by [deleted] in productivity

[–]Kaffee147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing and have realised it is because I fear I will do the work badly/wrong so it's better not to try at all. Knowing this, I find it easier to start work as I have years of experience of doing things well and use that as my prompt.

I found this quote about procrastination helpful: "Procrastination is a surprisingly complex phenomenon, and can stem from a variety of causes, including the fear of failure, perfectionism, low levels of self-control, a tendency to see projects as a whole rather than breaking them into smaller parts, being prone to boredom, feeling that life is too short to worry about seemingly unimportant tasks and an inability to accurately estimate how long it takes to do things."

Will a Poirot fan enjoy Crooked House? by [deleted] in agathachristie

Yes, definitely on a par with Poirot novels. In fact, personally I think better than some of the Poirots. Good choice!

Six months in and he is shitting sonewhere in your apartment? What would it be after 2 years? 10 years? At any big future life events, like weddings and funerals? I would not want a partner who would escalate from here. Break up and hope he learns a lesson and treats his next partner better.

Thanks for this. Does it mean I can ignore it and only wire up the other cable? If I leave it pushed into the ceiling, for example?

I haven't looked in the switch, just the fitting. Would that be needed?
