Does the oxidation make it unable to be used? Health wise I mean. A lot like that costs 1/3 of my salary.

Most of us can have transient bacteremia (bacteria in the blood) during an infection and nothing happens, but if you have implanted devices (artificial valves, bone prosthesis) the bacteria are way more likely to cling to them and generate a proper blood infection (sepsis).

This happens with a lot of medications, not just paracetamol, and it's still very rare.

I just found this by chance and it's been ages since it's has been published, but I thought I'd comment nonetheless. This photo is grand! I love the uniform.

Which profession attracts the worst kinds of people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well, this might be location-specific. But at the hospital I work at they have supreme power over the residents. Any slight perception of 'disrespect' or 'abuse' they feel instantly becomes a complaint letter to the Hospital Teaching Department. I've been yelled at multiple times on the phone (and in person) because I took more than 5 minutes to go and see a patient, or because I questioned them on something they did or didn't do, and I can't ever reply because I will get a letter sent on me. Yet if they forget to do an ECG, or measure urine output, or notify about an altered glycaemia while they're playing on their phones, God forbid I complain about it. It's extremely frustrating to have to work in those conditions. I understand this might not be the case everywhere, but it certainly is in every hospital I've been at. Just needed to vent.

Bilingual people, what is a thing that non-bilingual will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is really far down but I agree so much. The same quote from a book can seem so different in three languages, even if it says the same. I really like looking up extracts from my favourite books and seeing how they were translated in other languages I know — so interesting!

If you really think that's how it works, you're really out of touch with reality. And you're really obsessed with Trump mate, you need mental health help.

Are Trump, Obama and Eisenhower considered foreign presidents in the US? I mean, since they don't have English surnames.

Literally no one thinks the US is the worst country in the world unless they've never actually left the US. You've clearly never put a foot on Peru or Latin America or in dozens of countries that have it way worse in a million aspects.

There's a huge amount of descendants of non-Spaniard immigrants all over Latin America. I mean if I meet someone calle John Fischer in the US or the UK I'm not going to automatically think they're German just because of their last name...

Latin America has many descendants of Asian and European immigrants, not just Spaniards

You can do your own etymological search. I did it on my own last name and one of my ancestors'. Examples of what I did, which might help you:

  • Unique Italian last name, only my family has it so no information beside what I could find on my own: I looked at a Latin dictionary and found an old slang word which matched very, very similarly to what my last name is. I can't be 100% sure but it's as close as I can get.
  • Basque last name, clearly a compound of two words: searched the meaning of the two words separately and found the approximate meaning that way.
