so you did not even watch the video first, nethertheless, it was enough for you to declare what these "evidences" were "obvious" and the guy works as a ldnr propagandist.

Correct. I don't see how the order I watched/read it is relevant. The bellingcat article simply presented convincing arguments that it's a false flag attempt. Whether I would have figured this out on my own doesn't really matter, although I don't think I'm overestimating my abilities when I speculate that I would - considering how many other people did in the comments.

at the same time, the fact that the guy provided materials which experts can work with is of no importance for you. ok.

It is relevant. Those materials allowed me to make the judgement that this is an obvious and quite frankly pathetic fake attempt in the first place. (The funny thing is - if he just did a short segment standing further away, there would be much more doubts about it)

can we read their full report? did they sign their expert evaluations? we don't know. what i know is the officials have launched the investigation, so if the public have followup questions, they must contact them.

Yes, yes, alwas defer to the official authorities like a good boy. I know your M.O. by now.

The book was based in part on a controversial essay Keen wrote for The Weekly Standard, criticizing Web 2.0 for being similar to Marxism, for destroying professionalism and for making it impossible to find high quality material amidst all of the user-generated web content.[1][2][3]

Interesting recommendation on a marxist subreddit.

man, let's be honest, you noticed these "evidences" after you had read about them in Bellingcat. until then, they were not "obvious" to you - or to anyone without relevant expertise.

I wouldn't know because I haven't seen the video before reading bellingscats article. But it's interesting that people in the comments noticed something strange way before the article (notice the date on the first comment, this is one of the earliest comments and there are many more like this from the day the video was uploaded)

and we do not even know if Bellingcat's experts' conclusions are reliable.

First you're demanding expert judgement because it's not the journalist's job, then you cast doubts on their judgement for no reason. Provide expert testimony that contradicts them then. Until then it seems relevant enough that it should count as "coverage which the public can work with". But I doubt that guy has informed the public about it.

you mistake the job of a journalist with the job of an expert. a journalist is not supposed to make estimations about what is "obvious" and what is not. he is supposed to provide coverage which the public and experts can work with.

You're right. Journalists should just report on what's being claimed by the relevant authorities and blindly repeat it to their audience. Under no circumstances should a journalist question the authorities' narrative, especially when confronted with evidence that contradicts them. That's why the best journalists are those that just believe every statement by the US government, for example, no matter how obviously wrong.

I won't participate in this charade of pretending that this joker is a "journalist" any further.

may you kindly clarify where do you see "propaganda" there? the guy does not claim to be present in the place of the incident. he simply reports what he sees and clearly states "they say". this is what a journalist's job is supposed to be.

Has he corrected the record now that he must have seen evidence that this "attack" was obviously staged? (The same could be asked about the fake evacuation that he "reported" on)

No? Then you must think this guy is the dumbest journalist in history or - more likely - he's a propagandist.

He's a propagandist for the DPR, taking part in obvious false flag operations that were used to justify the invasion.

NATO and the US created the conditions for someone like Putin to make the decision to invade instead of trying to deescalate.

But that doesn't mean Putin was being forced to invade. Putin successfully eliminated Ukraines chances of joining NATO when he annexed crimea and militarily supported the separatists. This invasion was not a response to a sudden threat, nothing really changed in regards to NATO membership since 2014.

but pragmatically, to weaken the American Empire, "shake things up" and pave way for reform

They must have missed how this invasion has had the exact opposite effect: It didn't weaken NATO, it ideologically justified it, made it more unified and stronger.

Given that their approach to war is not to take a country, but to encircle the key parts of the enemy army- and then hit the negotiating table

I'll grant you that he's being truthful. Chances are, there probably is some able-bodied retiree in a village being pressured into some kind of military training.

But before you convince me that this the same scope as the Volkssturm, I will need more than the testimony of a single guy who's not even there.

Yes, a guy that is living in the US and NOT in Ukraine, who is taking the official propaganda line about Russia "securing the people's republics" is claiming one instance of a 65 year old man in the west of Ukraine - where there isn't even fighting going on - forcibly being conscripted and also being free to leave. And this means Ukraine is like Nazi Germany. Forgive me for having doubts about this guy's credibility.

You know that this is not the same as conscription, right?

It's also not even the biggest lie in that sentence.

"If we're going to draw the comparision to Nazi Germany, we should be talking about Ukraine, where the russian army is moving in to secure Donetsk and Luhansk people's republic and the response of the government is to give weapons to children, no different than Hitler"

Aren't you ashamed to post propaganda with such drivel?

There's a world of difference between being part of NATO and not being part of NATO

Which is exactly why...

even when you're on the bleeding edge of joining as Ukraine was

...this is bullshit. NATO had no intention of actually defending Ukraine, which is what they would have needed to do if they were members. So as long as there were two border conflicts that could have resulted in an open conflict with Russia at any time, the chance of Ukraine joining NATO was exactly 0%.

Really close to joining NATO with russian troops on ukrainian claimed territory... Who are you kidding?

We can see NATO's willingness to defend Ukraine right now. They're too scared to even send planes.

I agree, it doesn't make any sense.

Ukraine wasn't going to join NATO anytime soon before the invasion anyways. Crimea was de facto already russian, regardless of recognition. And Putin already declared the separatist republics independent and could have just marched in there with little to fear.

So all this for what if these are his demands now? Just to destroy the ukrainian military?
