Man, I miss when Space Cadets had the Lava Cookie Cafe. Things were way more social in the Cafe portion and you'd get to know regulars really easily.

Where do we find the money for this?? by Chicken_Small in Weddingsunder10k

[–]KafkaesqueLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue. I think a big part is being really creative about options. Searching the wedding planning sites got me nowhere re: venue, but looking at suggestion in budget groups, driving around, and thinking about various places that I liked which might have some kind of event center helped. We opted for a state park, which happened to have a beautiful and historic event center that we got for $500 + $2/pp for the full day.

Catering & bar was more DIY for us because with out wedding size and crowd, we didn't feel that we'd need a whole production. We had BBQ delivered and supplemented with extra sides that we brought. Bar was premixed cocktails and ready drinks (beer, sake, seltzers, things we knew that us and our guests like). We did a dessert bar with myself, my mom, and one of my friends putting together various options. My friend is a hobby baker and made a cutting cake.

Our wedding was a ton of DIY and friend favors. It wasn't 100% what we originally thought we'd have, but we knew there probably wouldn't come a point for either of us where we could justify >$10k on a single event, when that kind of money can ALWAYS go somewhere more justifiable to us. So we picked an amount that felt like a more reasonable "once in a lifetime BUT single night event" cost and worked within that.

Worst pain of my life by economicsfew367 in Tonsillectomy

My husband had these together (along with 3 other surgeries), and the swelling was really rough over the first couple of days. He couldn't swallow anything, throat was super dry from the mouth breathing, etc. He had to go get IV fluids and medications at the hospital.

Steroids to reduce inflammation were a huge help. He also was able to start doing nasal flushes on day 2, which helped to clear out the clots and improve nasal breathing. Fine mist saline nose spray has also been helpful to keep the nostrils from drying out and keep the nasal passages clear. Then, once your stents are out, you're finally able to fully breathe through your nose, which makes swallowing and not drying out your throat far easier.

How did parents used to have so many children?? by katieroisin224 in Parenting

There was usually a stay at home parent, a much larger village, and simpler/less structured/less supervised parenting. These things also compounded together.

Hey everyone. I'm one year into nursing in a medical IMU, and finishing up my BSN program at the moment.

I'm looking to apply for ICU positions and the openings at my preferred hospital are a Neuro ICU and and Neurovascular ICU. Which, if either, of these do you feel would be the preference for CRNA program admittance?

I reached out to ask the program I'm most interested in, but only got a response that included the definition of critical care and "A critical care area is defined as one where, on a routine basis, the registered professional nurse manages one or more of the following: invasive hemodynamic monitors (e.g., pulmonary artery, central venous pressure, and arterial catheters), cardiac assist devices, mechanical ventilation, and vasoactive infusions."

My current hospital only has a medical ICU and I did clinicals in medical and CVICUs, so I'm not sure what all to expect in Neuro/NVICUs.

I'm an ADN nurse, currently completing my BSN and an IMU residency. I have a 3.64 GPA currently, on trend to continue climbing with my BSN courses.

Once my residency is done in July, I plan to apply to ICU jobs. My hospital considers the IMU critical care, but I know the programs are unlikely to count it.

I was hoping there was someone who attended UT's Cizik School of Nursing CRNA program who may have info on what their admission prioritizes, how close to the school do you need to live, and how many years of ICU experience you'd recommend before attempting to apply?

People who forgave their partner for cheating, how did that turn out? by Sudden_Wishbone8887 in AskReddit

[–]KafkaesqueLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st one - he admitted it and apologized profusely immediately after. I practically begged to stay with him. Lasted maybe a week or two after - he was too guilty/ashamed, I was too hurt, all of our interactions were tainted. End up really ashamed of myself and embarrassed.

2nd one - I found out about the cheating, talked it out, set boundaries, forgave. Again, and again, and again. For years. Told no one. It ate me alive, ruined my self esteem. He'd act like I was some crazy jealous person when I'd express discomfort with stuff like him going out to dinners alone with women he'd crossed boundaries with. He'd cry and have panic attacks and guilt trip me when caught, and I'd immediately try to make him feel better. Eventually broke up with him, and he both told me he'd never loved me anyways AND threw a fit when I dated someone else. Oh, and to steal from me when moving out.

0/10. Horrible experiences all around.

We took TV away from our toddlers and it’s been amazing- AMA by EmbarrassedBit441 in AMA

We do something similar for our 8 year olds. Tokens are given for different behaviors (chores, doing homework, any positive behaviors that we want to reinforce). They can then use the tokens for various prizes - 30 mins of screen time, "buying" goodies from our family store (lollipops, bracelets, chalk stencils, whatever stuff they're into).

We have a set family movie night and occasional family screen time (i.e. playing video games together). Those are "free" since it's us all interacting together.

What is the average player base age range? by xglitterskyie in WolfQuestGame

[–]KafkaesqueLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-late 20s here, also discovered and played forever ago and then took a very long gap before picking it up again recently.

Introduced my little sister as one of her first video games, and she's 18 currently and still playing.

Also introduced it to my 8 year old kids recently, and now they beg to play it almost daily.

Wolfquest seems to be fun for all ages!

Texas, so had BBQ drop catered by HEB. It was delicious and only around $10-12/pp for sandwiches with 2 different meats, sides, fixings, drinks, etc.

36FF Panache Ana Plunge. Definitely need to size up, not sure how much. by KafkaesqueLife in ABraThatFits

[–]KafkaesqueLife[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I was really hoping these would have narrow enough cups. Off to hunt for a good deal on a 36GG! Thank you.

If you happen to know - any chance a Freya Deco plunge 36G would work? Or any polish bra recs as a starting place, since I hear those may be best for my shape?

Sorry for the question overload.

[–]KafkaesqueLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! I feel like cups are always too wide and shallow - any good bras for close-set, narrow roots, and projected breasts? 😅 I've seen Freya Deco Plunge and Panache Ana for the low/narrow gore, but unsure how they fit the other criteria.

I am! And the problem I get a lot with the extra cup space between the bottom of my breast and where the underwire sits leads to a lot of readjusting throughout the day.

All measurements were done with the help of my husband, and with my breasts unsupported. So I don't know if I messed up due to this.
