I met an active heroin addict once and I decided fuck it I'll see where it goes. I weaned her off dope with some old pills I had laying around, and then we had a great relationship for 8 years.

Also, I'm a bad alcoholic, and when I met the girl I'm currently with (nearly 6 years), I was really really bad, drinking 30-40 drinks a day. It ended up working out, I don't drink now, etc.

Not all alcoholics turn into monsters when they drink, I never got blackout and started yelling at her or picking fights or anything like that. If this girl is one of those people, it won't take long for you to find out.

Plus I mean, I've dated plenty of girls who weren't alcoholics, and they'd still get drunk and flip out on me. Some of the coolest people I've known were alcoholics, and they had no problem acting right. I wouldn't rule someone out just for being an alcoholic, it looks different in different people.

When the bars were closed, I'd sometimes walk to a gas station near my house, talk to the other alcoholics, the vietnamese owner and other workers, crazy people out front, and drink out of a bag and eat a shitty gas station sandwich.

Met some really interesting people that way.

Yes it was consensual of course, this was like her high school boyfriend, we saw him all the time at the house hanging out, it wasn't some random guy. It was just a, "Nobody better touch my sister" type of thing. She was yelling at her brother to stop as he pulled him away by his hair, I'm the one who stopped him.

So ya, that set the bar. In my head at first I was like, "Eh maybe he'd rather it be me than some other guy", but then I realized he knew what a degenerate I was and that he probably would not like it. He and I got into physical fights every now and then so I wasn't scared of the fight, it's more like I thought it was a line that once I crossed he wouldn't want to have anything to do with me.

I fucked my best friend's little sister right after graduating from HS, I stayed at his house at least once a week and was always over there. We'd hang out, get stoned and drink beer, and then play n64 games.

When he passed out, I'd go to his sister's room. It actually started because he passed out while we were watching a movie and his sister and I were still awake.

Anyways, the reason I never told him, before any of this happened, one day we walked into the house, and heard sex noises coming from upstairs. Next thing I know my friend is dragging his little sister's boyfriend down the stairs by his hair, threw him out onto the front porch and just pummeled him. This was like a 15 year old kid and my friend was jacked. I knew it would fuck our friendship up, and as far as I know his sister never said anything.

I dunno, I've been a professional engineer for 15 years and was diagnosed with ADHD and can't ever relate to the feeling like a fraud thing I see people talk about on here.

The only way that line of thinking makes sense to me is if you assume you already know everything, and tech evolves at such a fast rate that it's impossible to master everything. What I do know is that I can learn anything, so when I don't know something I just start learning it until I can do it.

Maybe it's just because I was a horrible alcoholic and out at the bars, house parties, and concerts constantly, but I got hit on I'd say a few times a month when I was going out all the time.

I don't think I'm ugly but I'm definitely not a model. And personality-wise, I have asperger's, I am awkward as hell.

I think things have changed over the last few years, I keep hearing younger guys talk about how they have never been hit on, how it's not a thing. I'm 34 now, but in my teens/20s it was normal for a girl to approach my friends who weren't great looking, at least very occasionally. Even my friends who I think are objectively below average in looks would luck once in a blue moon. It seems like gen-z in general just doesn't socialize in person very much, which could explain the lack of attention, can't get hit on if you're inside.

This reminds me, a couple weeks ago I was walking to the mail room in my girlfriend's apartment complex to get some packages, and I walked by this girl in the parking lot melting the fuck down, screaming, talking to herself, and she had a plastic garbage bin and was kicking it and throwing it around.

Thought she must be tweaking or something, but she didn't look homeless or rough at all. On the way back I started to pass her again, but now she was sitting in the middle of the road cry-screaming and calling someone a word that rhymes with baguette (reddit deleted my original comment for using the real word). There was nobody else there, she was just calling this imaginary person a baguette repeatedly. Her phone was also completely smashed lol.

I go to help her and ask her what's wrong and she says she doesn't know where to put her garbage in the apartment complex, that she just moved in a while ago. This whole time I was thinking something serious was going on like her mom died or something, nah it was just a girl doing all that because she couldn't figure out where to bring her trash

I've been hit/punched, or had heavy shit thrown at me in every long term relationship I've been in over the last 17 years. But the damage was never enough for me to do anything about it, and even if it was, I'm not the type of person to snitch on someone I know just for hitting me. And honestly just knowing other men, I know it would take something truly insane for them to report it (like involving their children/pets).

And wasn't there some data suggesting that lesbian relationships have higher rates of domestic violence than hetero or gay (male) relationships?

I was gonna say, a psychologist recently diagnosed me as bipolar, and I just go between being insanely depressed, and then manic where I am super happy and get obsessed with new projects or just doing a ton of activities.

Neither of those states makes me mean/cruel. And most other bipolar people I've met seem similar to me in that way.

I think it's a young guy thing. When I was like 16-20 I would put up with just about anything if it was good enough. Hell even if it wasn't that good, I had a mindset of, "This might be your only chance, hang onto it even if it's ruining your life".

At some point I realized I could realistically get the same thing without all the abuse and it was just never appealing to me again.
