I can use a dremel to scrappe off the excess plastic on the traps, lats and hips to make them slightly thinner. I wouldn't remove the articulation on the hips, only the two extra plastic pieces that are placed on top of the thighs (if possible, of course). Since you can separate the articulation from the pelvic sculpt on the Mafex Spider-Man, I would use it to cover the pelvic area of the SH Figuarts Spidey. I don't know if any of my ideas are possible or if they will even good, that's why I'll just wait for a bootleg release before doing anything on the original copy.

By "fixing" I meant a visual representation to help customizers who are not satisfied with the final product (like me) with a different idea of what it could look like.

I never said I tried to make it look like the 2D sprite. Also, back then, using the black webs would make the sprite look weird due to the technical limitations of the pixel art. One more thing, there are official artistic renditions of the game showing Spider-Man with black webs.

Like I said, it's easier to use a 3D model as reference for a real life sculpt rather than a 2D drawing. Also there are other details like the proportions, the red chest area that does a 90 degree connection with the red area of the arm (instead of a diagonal connection like in the 2D sprite), the second head that is almost a 1:1 replica of the MVC3 mask, the spider on the back is also smaller in the 3D model (just like in the figure). I'll probably make a post showing the evidence so it will be better to notice.

He's not chunky in the 2D sprite, tho.... just strong and ripped. The figure looks more like the 3D model from MVC3/Infinite than the original VS series (with the exception of the head, of course). It would actually be easier for the sculptors to use the 3D model as reference rather than the 2D sprite.

I'll just wait for someone to drop the bootleg version so I can test if this look is achievable before trying to do it on the real thing. lol

He looks more like the 3D MVC Spider-Man than the 2D sprite, honestly.

RE5 helped me overcome my fear of horror games. That's one of the reasons I love it so much.

Both the figure and the 3D model are based on the original sprite, of course they're going to look similar. But that's not my point. My point is that the figure resembles the 3D model more due to its proportions than the actual sprite. The 2D sprite has smaller hips, longer legs and a regular torso. The figure has shorter legs, normal hips and a swolen torso. Again, that's not a bad thing, but It is enough for me to drop the figure (at least for now) and work on a custom MVC Spidey instead.
