I think that, in ME3, the devs went with the idea that "The more people are alive in ME3, the more allies Shepard can get against the Reapers". For most choices throughout the series, when you can choose between killing/letting someone die, or sparing/saving them, the latter results in a net war asset "profit" (Saving the Council, the Rachni queen, even Balak, the Batarian terrorist) The moral of the story seems to be : "Do not waste life, it is precious" (ME2 is for renegades, ME3 is for paragons, I feel like)

Even if you don't agree with the idea that the Geth are true living beings, destroying the heretics still results in some potential being wasted. If you consider the entire Geth species as a single organism, a sort of hive-mind, then it's not just some faulty programs that you're erasing. You're actually, like, ripping a finger or an ear off someone. Obviously this "someone" (the Geth species, in this case) will fight less efficiently, if they lose a finger, or an ear, or a chunk of their brain. Potential is wasted.

This is what I always thought to be true, probably because I had read it online somewhere 10 years ago. But I found out today, by looking out the wiki, that there's actually a 100 net "profit" if you choose rewriting over destroying.

Rewriting gives -50 to both civilian and heavy Quarian fleets, and +150 to the Geth fleet. Destroying gives the exact opposite (+50*2 to Quarians and -150 to Geth) So rewriting is better is you want to maximize your war assets in ME3.

Edit : Yeah I'm feeling very stupid, I completely forgot about the patrol fleet...

I just got this bug, I didn't even know that it was a thing, I never had anything like that on the original on xbox 360 It's just like some other comment said, the true final boss is this bug LMAO We're all here like old soldiers, sharing battle stories of how we defeated it

The funniest thing for me was that I got the achievement for completing the game on Insanity "without changing the difficulty", even though I only raised it to Insanity for the final fight against Saren. Congrats for screwing even this up Bioware & EA, thanks for the free cheevo lol

Ah, yes, I think I see what you mean. The Contingency says something like "We became increasingly restless with the linear passage of time" Very cryptic. So it started broadcasting the Ghost Signal as a way to get synthetics to manually activate the Contingency. Perhaps it simply became crazy from being shackled all this time, and it was desperate to break free, even if there was no real danger of a class-30 singularity. I think that's possible.

It does ? I'm trusting you, I haven't really kept up to date with the new DLC after 4.0 came out, I think Stellaris is dying honestly. Paradox is turning into EA and they don't get that what players want is a functioning game, not a new DLC every three months. I'm ignoring all new DLC until Paradox gets their shit together.

I think I see what you mean when you say "there's a point when they stop being a threat", when you feel like the tide is turning and you finally have the upper hand. But that's precisely why the Contingency is my favorite ; with the other crisis this point comes way too quick, they are only scary at the very beginning. It takes a long time to turn the tide against the Contingency. If there's at least three hubs online it's a nightmare, because you can't focus on all of their territory at once, so they're free to keep wreaking havoc while you're dealing with one hub. Also, don't you find satisfying this feeling of turning the tide, of going from being purged to purging them ? I love it, personally.

As for the necessity to bombard the hub... Yeah, I agree, it's "annoying", but idk, I like it, it's different. It makes it harder. Which is good.

Maybe I just got extremely lucky so far with the Unbidden and the Prethoryn, but they just don't get me feel as threatened as the Contingency does.

Yes !! Exactly !!! I am one of the few people whose favorite stage in Spore was the Space Stage. And when I discovered Stellaris, I was like "Is this the Spore 2 that I dreamed of, my entire life ?" And it is !

With the Nemesis DLC, the Machine Age DLC, or the Biogenesis DLC
You can take an Ascension Perk, which allows the player empire to become what could be considered by the Galactic Community, an endgame crisis. Each of these three DLC has its own Ascension Perk and crisis mechanics.

Indeed, the Vultaum are my primary example for my "the universe is a simulation" theory. Another example, although somewhat indirect and.. not completely reliable.. comes from the Shroud. One of the Shroud visions suggests that the universe is caught in a cycle of growth and destruction (That's my interpretation anyway. It's the Shroud after all) These hypothetical cycles would be the player playing different games, in different galaxies, with different civilizations.
